I love him, he's great, but stop the typecasting!!! He can do other things!
I think that between Glory and Shawshank, those are the two movies that got him typecast.

Although, there was Driving Miss Daisy in between there, and even if I've not seen it, I'm pretty sure that he wasn't typecast in that movie. the old lady was much more grizzled looking.

Robin Hood (1991), Se7en (1995), and Chain Reaction (1996) also come to mind.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

He is an old black guy what do you want him to do play James Bond?

          That's rather harsh.

Its what works for him. Some actors should be so lucky as to be typecast. Means people think of you when they're casting for those type of parts.

I understand that aspect, but he's more talented than a typecast actor. Just sayin'.

his typecasting goes in spurts, though. after that penguin movie came out, he said that everyone wanted him to do voice over work.

He has had other roles outside of the "type" he's been given. He played God in that Bruce Almighty movie and its sequel. The Bucket List was also outside his normal type, and then there's the new Batman movies.

I think people associate him with a certain type because he does excel at those, even if he does very well in other sorts of roles, too.

Can't count Batman. That was a wise grisled veteran. He was the voice of reason.

But I'll agree on the voiceover work. Bro Gin and I had a talk tonight, and he is the new James Earl Jones. Great voice, can carry a movie, but is typecast.

The first-ever narrated Bond flick? That could be interesting.

Quantum of Solace was terrible but its a masterpiece compared to Die Another Day.
