Saw the movie "Nine" the other day. A little bit racy and quite scandalous. It's about an Italian movie director that sleeps around with women while he's married, and it made me quite irate that everyone pretty much shrugged it off because he's a guy. If it was a woman director that was sleeping around while married, everyone would mark her as a whore.

Apparently, you've never been to Italy, or associated with Italians. Or most Euros for that matter ...

I watched Stranger Than Fiction...slow to start but I really loved it by the end. Will Ferrell was pretty great in it.

                Into the Wild is next.

I loved Stranger Than Fiction. If Will Ferrell did more of those types of those movies, I think the general population would like him more. That dry comedy really works for him.

Coming out later this month, is a movie I'm really interested in: "Red Cliff" directed by John Woo. There's two versions, by the way. The international version is 4+ hours (the one I really want to see), and then the American version is about 2 1/2 hours long.

I've only seen a brief trailer for it, but it looks AWESOME.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

You misunderstood. They shrugged it off because he was Italian. The Italians elected a call girl to their Parliament once. They really don't have the whole American "oh noeeeees sex is bad" thing (which, given they're Catholic, is fascinating). Can you imagine the Fundy Freakout if this story was running over here?

Now why they don't seem to have a problem with adultery is anybody's guess, but it features prominently in about half of all Italian films. They haven't been quite right in the head since WW2 (see also: Germany, Japan, etc).

The Japanese I'll give you for being weird, and I'm going to say the German's weirdness have a little more with the Cold War and having the country divided for 50 years. The Italians? Not really all that weird if you ask me.

Into the Wild was good though I think they went a little far with the "non-linear storytelling". I have to say though Chris McCandless was a friggin idiot and while the story is tragic I really am not weeping for him because of some of the decisions he made.

I agree completely. I enjoyed the movie, but I found myself always thinking 'what the hell are you doing! quit being such a damm moron!'

Haven't posted here in a while. First off, if you haven't seen the Oscar winner for Best Animated Short, LOGORAMA, watch it. Now:

                              http://www.logorama-themovie.com/

Second, I just got my BluRay with Netflix. We got rid of Netflix over a year ago, and just started up again since the BluRay player arrived. We've watched several streaming movies since it arrived, and I'm blown away by the quality. I never expected it to be so good. Not only that, but I expect that the future will be streaming video. If it's this good now, how good will it get? Surely, if Netflix is making moey as it is, they will be able to expand the availability and be able to charge more fairly easily...

As to BluRay, wow. I always thought DVD and HD channels looked good, but I bought Star Trek on BluRay, and it was amazing how much better it looked. We just got Ghostbusters from Netflix today, and will be watching it tonight, so I'm interested to see how much BluRay improves an '80's movie. The extra $2 a month should be well worth the subscription...

I thought it was rather boring, and seeing all the stupid things just made me want him to die all the sooner.
