There is no such thing as a chick flick that is not entirely predictable. Like the guy flick, part of the genre rule is a strict adherence to a very simple formula. If you moved off the expected plot arc even a smidge you'd lose half the audience.

Heigl wasn't the problem with Knocked Up. Reese Witherspoon could have been in that and it would still have been a dog.

Moon with Sam Rockwell. I have no idea if you'd like it, but I want more people to see it.

Awesome movie. And keeping with Sam Rockwell, Choke (2008) is a movie that if you haven't seen, is definitely worth the rental.

It was a horrible chick flick. Predictable plot, and the characters weren't even likeable. I despised both the main characters.
Not to be too much of a girl, but...THAT SCOTTISH GUY IS SO HOT! Ahem, I agree though - rest of the movie - meh.

? Is this in reference to something?

Huh - I couldn't get through it (which was weird, I liked the book).

I watched it last week. It was very very good. Sam Rockwell has always been a favorite of mine.

You fool, you picked the wrong wedding-themed chick-flick with a cast member from Grey's Anatomy!

                  Cyclops is not hot.

Scottish guy was the Lucius in Rome. (And now, apparently, is also on Gray's Anatomy.)

                    I Love You, Man:

Had decent expectations (better than average comedy) and this surpassed it. I really liked this movie. Explained the "guy thing" very well, had some funny lines, and (forgive me for phrasing it this way) had some good male-bonding moments without making it seem totally gay (slang usage).

This is definitely one you could watch with your buddies while having a couple rounds of beer, and have a lot of fun with it.

Very much worth watching, and probably would add to the DVD collection.

I just watched Leap of Faith...one of my favorite Steve Martin movies of all time. If you havent seen it I highly recommend it. I have seen it probably a dozen times and love it more each time.

You pretty much can't go wrong with Vertigo, Psycho, The Birds, or North By Northwest. Usually considered his peak since all 4 were made in succession. That being said there are quite a few other gems out there to see if you look.

                            Strangers on a Train
Notorious (Ingrid Berman's best Hitchcock performance)

Dial "M" for Murder (Grace Kelly's best Hitchcock IMO)
                            Lifeboat
EDIT: How did I forget Frenzy?

Many consider Shadow of a Doubt his best film. I'm not one of them, but I'll list it anyway cause other opinions certainly are valid. Some like Suspicion as well but I wasn't that into it.

And if you really want to run the Gauntlet you can do what I did and watch 33 of the 53 films he was the director on. Totally up to you.
