Bottom line is they do this to pensions and it's just another giveaway to the rich and powerful. Not surprising. We tax the poor and middle class to pay for millionaire's and billionaire's to provide non-existent jobs while the invert their companies and build factories in China.

    No shock here.

Inversion is a consequence of the current tax law. You can't fault anyone for wanting to lower their tax bill to the lowest legally permitted amount.

As for shifting jobs - blame every free trade agreement (and greed).

      --------------
Pensions - you'd bankrupt the tax base of you had to get the public pension funds up to fully funded status in a very short time period. The chickens are coming home to roost.

      -----------
Slap - I'm closer to Pat Buchanan than say the current GOP leadership.

That's not even close to what that case is about.

Bankruptcies are battles between creditors, nothing more, nothing less. Just picking over the bones of failure.

Sometimes the bankrupt party wants to favor certain creditors, for whatever reason. In this case it was political. Obviously it's in the interest of elected officials to take the position their employee's (and elector's) pensions get higher priority compared with more general creditors. This judge concluded the law doesn't permit that.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Yeah, it's sad to see the Dems beholden to unions. OH WAIT, you mean the Republicans and the corporations. As if they don't give money to the Dems as well.

That didn't make any sense in reference to what I said. It's a valid point, but it has nothing to do with the topic, which is that there aren't any actual 100% government, 0% private idiots left, but there is a whole cult of 100% private, 0% government idiots who only stop masturbating to Jerry Pournelle long enough to call CSPAN and squawk about mrah mrah too much gubmint mrah mrah.

This is interesting. I'm reminded of hockey where coaches coach, players play, refs decide and parents cheer. When one crosses over and tries to do something other than what is intended, bad things can happen.

                          So we have this. http://news.yahoo.com/two-little-kno...-politics.html

Should Congress tell SCOTUS how to interpret the law? Write (often badly) the law, but don't try to interpret it. The Executive should enforce the law, and the judicial interprets.

                          We jeer.

Sorry but your rhetoric falls apart when you blame it on the tax law. If we cut corporate taxes to zero they still would move jobs out of here. GE pays zero taxes, gets all sorts of subsidies and grants and still has been moving jobs to cheaper labor areas. Plenty of cases where local business move abroad even after they get tax breaks and cheap land to build on.

This BS notion that high taxes are why companies leave the US stinks from the head. They will still leave because they dont want to pay a minimum wage.

Business has no loyalty to this country and we need to stop pretending it does. They wont come back in droves with jobs just because we cut taxes when they can still outsource to India and pay a third the wages.
