But then how could we sell weapons to both sides if both sides are dead?

There would be a certain irony in that region if we let God sort it out.

I am truly surprised that Israel has not, to date, taken the "Old Pio" approach.

One, well-placed, brutally indiscriminate, multi-megaton mushroom-cloud message with follow-up press conference consisting of:
"Yup. That was us. We did it. Solved that problem. And if anyone, anyone, comes back at us Mecca and Medina glow next. No further questions. Shalom."

                    That's the reason they haven't.

So.....the 3 day "ceasefire" lasted all of about 3 minutes!

                      I'm shocked, just shocked

The cease-fire took effect at 8 a.m. local time and was expected to last for a period of 72 hours.

"Once again, Hamas and the terror organizations in Gaza have blatantly broken the cease-fire to which they committed."

                      - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

United Nations Special Coordinator for Middle East Peace Robert Serry issued a statement Friday, following reports of the cease-fire violation.

“If corroborated, this would constitute a serious violation of the humanitarian ceasefire in place since 8 am this morning by Gazan militant factions, which should be condemned in the strongest terms,” the statement read.

                              Some "irony-plus" possibilities:

                              1) God does not exist, and all this fuss was for naught,

                              2) God exists but has issues of his/her/its own and needs to see the suffering and misery for reasons he/she/it does not even understand,

                              3) God exists and wants to sort it out, but the present situation is the best he/she/it can do under difficult circumstances.

Thousands of years of evidence suggests #2 is most likely.

I respectfully submit that thousands of years of evidence could just as easily suggest an alternative # 4:

                                4) More than one God exists, and They are All at war with Each Other, using human beings as their proxies.

(e.g., see Roger Zelazny, Lord of Light. an absolutely brilliant book, btw.)

Much of the early OT is like that too, as Yahweh's minions eliminate Baal's minions, etc.
A similar impulse seems to motivate fanatical Islamists today: convert or die!

At least JW and LDS are polite when you say "no thank you just the same"! I don't even mind when they say they will pray for me...might as well hedge my bets.
