An international group of the top women's players in the world has filed suit in Canadian court about the use of artificial turf at all the Women's World Cup venues.

Can't find the link right now, no doubt it's on multiple sites though.

I hope everyone realizes that Canada was the only country to put in a bid and FIFA knew about the funny turf issue. It's like buying a house next to the airport and suing about the noise.

As I said before, would the women soccer players be suing in Qatari court if the next Women's World Cup was in Qatar because the men would never play in such difficult conditions?

Seems that countries are staying away from bidding for major events. Ask the 2022 Winter Games how it's going.

Seems like some of these countries are wising up. They deserve some of the spoils of hosting without having to foot all of the bill.

                US Roster for Ecuador game.

It's the Landon Donovan farewell game in Hartford.

Here's the interesting bit: LA and Seattle are locked up in a race for the Supporters Shield, tied on points, all other teams eliminated. Seattle plays Vancouver Friday, same day as the friendly, and loses Yedlin but not Dempsey. LA plays Dallas Sunday now, potentially, without Donovan, Gonzalez, and Keane (who's off with Ireland). I'm sure Bruce Arena is happy.

Wow, pretty cool to see Ibarra make the roster...he's probably the biggest reason I decided to check out a Minnesota United game last weekend.

I have followed them the last two years and they look good. I watch them on channel 45.

Surprised there's nothing on here for the Euro qualifiers.

Kazakhstan just went up 1-0 on Holland. How many ethnic Kazakhs actually play for Kazakhstan? For them being two thirds of the population, there sure seems to be almost exclusively ethnic Russians (about 30% of population) on their hockey and soccer teams.

Without knowing any of the socio-economic issues about Kazakhstan, I'm willing to make an educated guess that perhaps the ethnic Russians are considerably more likely to have disposable income and able to let their kids play sports than the children of ethnic Kazakhs.
