To be fair, there are many people (morons) who explicitly just watch espn and will simply claim that they have no idea how to find nbcsn, fs1, etc on their cable package.

Not to mention we're talking about the local team in a major media market (RBNY) against a team with a huge international profile (Arsenal) against Nats-Reds and Indians-Royals.

Yup, it can take awhile for a channel to get put into a rotation for some people.

MLS on ESPN beat out Man City/Milan on FS1. I would guess most of that is simply due to ESPN. Though it's good news for MLS as their numbers are now better than the WNBA's, which was not the case last year. It'll be interesting to see the numbers next season when there's no World Cup bump.

This has got to be one of the narrowest fields I've ever seen at Michigan Stadium. Can't help training too much, but it gets a truckload of money so who cares.

I see they've also Americanized the tournament and made sure there's a winner in every match with a shootout.

It actually meets FIFA standards- http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/footba...d=1285960.html, and with the extra width added in the ends and sides, it's pretty close to an international standard game- the 70 yard width is pretty tough for that.

One other surprising thing- did you notice that it was actually grass? One of our friends who works for the athletic department told us that the organizers themselves took the carpet out and installed the grass for the ONE event. Good thing there were so many people paying for the tickets, as that had to cost a lot.

Fun to be at, BTW. We had a really good time. It was funny how the fans were distracted so much when a certain player started to warm up. The game became secondary, then.

My boss is Brazilian and asked me about three days after tickets were released to see if I could cop a couple for him and his son. I laughed after talking to the ticket office. Just the same, he is stuck in Mexico (immigration entanglements) and couldn't be in A2. It would have been a great event to be at, regardless.
