Yeah, a guy makes that point in the comments points this out and is getting crucified.

Get past the US, Canada, Germany, Japan, Brazil, China, and maybe Norway and it's a sharp sharp drop in quality. Mia and Abby made a living on scoring 3+ a game against bad teams.

Let Abby Wambach play on the USMNT and tell me how often she would score. That's my counter-argument.

Not that I care what she thinks but I think all of you are missing the point...no one would call Abby Wambach the US all-time leading scorer. They'd qualify it with "Women's" but no one cares to qualify Landon in the same way even though he has scored less than some women. It is complete uncomparabke but it's not about comparing it's about properly qualifying. If you talk about Pete Sampras, you qualify him as a great Mens tennis player.

True, but it's referred to in context. They're talking about the Men's team so they refer to as such. Next summer during the Women's WC I'm sure the same will be used for Abby.

Of course the writer could be mistaken as they may have referred to Landon as the US's All Time leading World Cup goal scorer.

US Soccer at least does put the teams on equal footing with MNT and WNT being used.

And then she goes on to make the same "error" herself by stating that, "Abby Wambach is the all-time leading goal scorer in the world, among all soccer players, male or female." Um, really? Per Wiki, Pele scored 1281 goals. Oh, I guess she meant that Abby was the top goal scorer in INTERNATIONAL competitions - well, she should have qualified it that way, then! Must be precise, mustn't we?
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

The only certainty out of this? The Sounders will be getting paid. Since Yedlin is a Homegrown Player the Sounders keep 75% of the transfer money, up to $650k of which will be Allocation Money (basically extra Salary Cap money). The rest? Who knows.

If one of you could do me a favor and post the starting formations in the non-spoiler thread, so I don't feel tempted to try to find it elsewhere and accidentally spoil the score, I'd be appreciative.

                        OK, here you go.

On paper it looks like both teams are going 4-5-1....

                        Brazil:

                        Cesar

                        Maicon - Luiz - Dante - Marcelo

                        Gustavo - Rosa - Hulk - Oscar - Barnard

                        Fred

For Germany, I'm a bit surprised, but

                        Neuer

                        Lahm - Boateng - Hummels - Howedes

                        Khedira - Schweinsteiger - Muller - Kroos - Ozil

                            Jeez.

Then again, I guess players in their prime who just led the Premier League in goals by a mile don't come cheap.

                            I'm liking the look of:

                            --------- Suarez ----------

Not sure how they're going to fill the massive Carles Puyol-shaped hole in their defense though.

Will they be playing the old Run and Shoot style where they'll just try to outscore everyone?

Also, wonder where Liverpool spends the cash. In the old days when they sold players like Kevin Keegan, they'd get someone as good if not better.
