They had to go Minnesota. It really wasn't even a debate. If the NFL wants to continue to use the Super Bowl as a carrot (maybe the primary carrot) to have taxpayers fund these billion-dollar palaces, you need to keep your promise on giving them one. Otherwise you can be ****ed sure that well will dry up in a heartbeat.

I am so hoping there's a crippling blizzard, hurricane force winds and subzero temperatures on the weekend of the game.

Man, that's more than enough reason for me not to like the idea of having the Super Bowl come back to Minnesota.

Isn't the new Vikings stadium going to have a roof?

At his graduation ceremony from the U of Minnesota, my cousin got a keychain. When asked what UW gave her for graduation, my sister said, "A degree from a University that matters."

Yes, but getting to the game (and getting around the city) can still be a nightmare! Hell, close the airport and people won't even be able to fly in for the game!

Actually, I was really rooting for (and still am) a Super Bowl played in a snowstorm. Of course, the pansies in MN wanted a roof, instead of using cold weather to the team's advantage, so snow wouldn't matter in this case.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

By the time the new stadium opens, if you're in downtown Mpls, there shouldn't be an issue at all. The skyway system will be open when the game starts, so people could walk indoors pretty much from Target Center all the way to Humpty Dump II, and I'd expect the skyway system to stay open late specially for the game. Currently, there's over seven miles of skyway, and by game time, with how far away the stadium is from downtown proper, it will be at that eight mile mark.

As to the airport, we're pretty good at removing snow around here. Firstly, we don't get the 24" snowfalls the way you do out there. Second, we get snow so often, and the State of MN will want to make a special effort that weekend, that we won't have any issues with snow management that weekend.

About the airport: When MN played at CC two years ago, a superstorm hit the MSP area. The team got diverted to Omaha, but I was lucky enough to land. DESPITE during the flight, the pilot announced that MSP went from 2 runways to 1 runway, and we were unsure of where we were headed (Omaha or MSP). Landed, and while my ride was snowed in, heard the dispatchers call every taxi company and told them to send ALL the taxis. Exact quote "I don't care where they are. Send ALL your taxis here. NOW." It was about a 30 minute wait, but not bad considering the amount of people that had to leave the airport (NO ONE was on the roads, really, EXCEPT for taxis).

I'm not worried about the weather. A massive blizzard would be the worst case, but even those don't last more than a couple days, and the Super Bowl is more than just a weekend event. People will have time to get here. Also, late January/early February isn't really the time of year that we'd normally get big storms. I'm guessing it will be just fine. It will most likely be really cold, but like was mentioned, we have miles of skyways, and maybe, just maybe the people from other parts of the country should just grow a set of balls and deal with the cold.
Having a clear conscience just means you have a bad memory or you had a boring weekend.

                    RIP - Kirby
