Picked up the Flor de Cana 12 yo Centenario (rum) today... very nice.

Enjoying it while I finish my last task for the weekend straightening up the back room of the basement. Had to clean up the jar of tomatoes that I knocked off the shelf while drunkenly grabbing our fireworks the other night after the Hawks loss. When the boy challenged me to a Roman Candle battle, I was all like "Bring it on you little beotch!" He nearly scalped me with a shot that then went on to hit the neighbor's house.

Then a mortar shot blew up in the tube nearly killing us all.

Alcohol + explosives... what could go wrong?

After this I plan on hitting the newly stained back deck and having a rum runner. Rained a bit ago and the water is all beading up and sheet.

Hope I remain sober enough to grill the strips and shrimp that we're having tonight and then for the Hawks game.

Ever since Sam Adams went to cans, Ive seen tons of other beers in cans where I had to do a double take. Which isn't to say Sam was the impetus the industry needed. They were just the first I noticed.

My description may be a bit more colorful than the actual events although the mortar shot did blow up in the tube. Was just a little one though...

KBC was a pioneer, IMO - mediocre beer, but the first I noticed in cans, so easy to take to the state parks.

I was actually disappointed that KBC only came in cans (when I was in Houghton). Didn't take any home for that reason and took a couple of growlers instead.

Houghton has better beer (The Library - Shafthouse Stout and Ye Old Barleywine in particular), but as far as KBC, the only canned beer I would drink is the Widowmaker, because they all taste pretty much the same.

Indeed Brewing in MPLS only has cans, same with Tallgrass Brewing (both above average breweries overall). I think it's a cheaper option for smaller breweries, so they run with it. I don't mind cans, if the beer is really good (Indeed Shenanigans and Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat Vanilla Bean Stout are my faves, respectively, from those breweries).

As for KBC, it's really close between the Scottish Ale and the Widow Maker black ale.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

At the Beer and Bacon Festival I went to last week, Indeed scored major points for being the only people that filled the glass to the brim. Good stuff, as well. Drinking a lot of that and Fulton lately.

As long as that tube was HDPE you should be ok That stuff can handle the largest consumer shells no problem. In a former life, I semi-professionally sold/set off fireworks. It was a great time, good money and now I get to be deaf and scarred

Watch out for those roman candles. It takes a lot of cheap beer to walk off a shot to the face.

Tried some new stuff from a small local brewpub that we always drive past on the way to/from my fiance's parents house. Hydro Street Brewing. Got 3 bombers and a growler.

First was the growler of their Amber, which was ok, I liked it, but others thought it was entirely too hoppy for an amber.

Second was their Twist and Shout Stout, which was in a bomber. I liked this one, it seemed like it was lighter than a normal stout, and almost fizzy, but that was different, but not bad.

Third was their Apple Brandy Barrel Aged Scotch Ale. I had to try a bomber of this after seeing it, just see what it was like. The consensus was that it wasn't very good. It was extremely tart, and dry. Also, I didn't think that the brandy liquor flavor did a good job of complimenting the scotch ale. Interesting idea, that just didn't work.

Fourth, I haven't had this one yet. It was pitched to me as a refreshing summer beer. It is a light and crisp, gluten free, sorghum beer, with hints of orange flavor. I guess we'll see how this one measures up. I've never had a sorghum beer before.

Tried a fair amount of beer on the trip to Greece and wasn't impressed with any of it. Mythos, Alpha, Appenzeller (on the Swiss Air flights), Hellas, Fix and Volkan Santorini Blonde were all forgettable. Volkan Santorini Black was pretty decent, but given that it doesn't appear to be exported from Greece, I'm not sure if that's all that useful to anyone.

On the other hand, wine was quite good. This was particularly the case in Santorini, where wine is one of their biggest agricultural products (if not the biggest) due to advantageous climate and terrain. We had a fun afternoon of wine tasting at Santo Wines, and being a fan of dessert wine, I really enjoyed Vinsanto style wine made from sun-dried grapes. The various generic Greek white wines we had were all pretty good, though, easy drinking on a hot day, and often as little as 5 euros for a liter carafe of a house wine.

Ouzo... I dunno. At the rehearsal dinner we had one that I really liked, but the rest were way too much like sambuca for me to really enjoy. The last night there, we had dinner at a Cretan restaurant that served complimentary raki as an aperitif, and man did that burn, but then with dessert they served the same stuff warm and mixed with honey and that was really REALLY good. Like drinking hot cider, almost.

I'm sure your drunkenness after the Hawks loss was embellished a little too.
