Those are my 2 favorite things: coffee and stout beer.
It was excellent, but I think I prefer the regular BCBS over the Coffee and there wasn't much of a difference.

How cold was it? It makes a big difference in taste. I started mine right from the fridge, purposely took about an hour to drink, and you could easily tell the changes in taste to each beer as it warmed up.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

I got 2 12oz bottles last year, and a buddy got 2 of the regular BCS. We traded one bottle of each to each other. Both are absolutely f*ing phenomenal.

Edit: it also runs about $6/bottle.
Actually the guy I traded with said he paid $8.99 a piece for the BCBCS which is insane! I can still buy BCBS around here for $17 a 4 pack, but I'm glad I got to try BCBCS and I still have two left although I'm willing to trade for some Surly.

My beer fridge has an electronic control and I keep it at 50 degrees. I definitely agree it gets better as it warms, but the coffee notes weren't as prevalent as I thought they would be.

If I were closer to Maine.....

$9 is indeed insane. But.....I'd probably pay it to get 4 of them.

Example: a store I called about the KBS didn't know what it was, and said that it was a 1 case minimum order for them. I said, "I'll buy it all." After seeing the price, they were REALLY confused, and called the distributor on my behalf. They couldn't get it, they weren't a big enough account quite yet, but expected to be there next year. You know dam well I'll be calling next year, trying to buy all they can get. I don't care what I have to pay.

Edit: my fridge is a normal one, and by the time I took my last sip, the beer was just about room temp. And still tasty.

I bought this about 6 months ago one of my better investments and you can rearrange the shelves to fit bombers etc. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Igloo-Beve...Black/31136427

I was able to get 16 KBS no problem around here again because in this part of Maine craft beer isn't a hobby so it's trade bait for me.

                1. I have to keep that in mind. In a year or two, I'll have a Man Cave to build.
                2. Same with the store I called. The average clientele thinks that Surly is the ultimate snob beer "fer folks that ain't like us." This store also somehow got about 5 cases of HopSlam, and those sat there for at least a week (in the Mpls area, stores sold out of that usually within the hour).

In Maine they think Sam Adams is the snob beer at least north of Portland. LOL I've gotten Hopslam from two different trades and I actually like it with about 3 months of age on versus fresh. I've never had any Surly and from everything I've read it's fantastic across the board.

I'm the wrong guy to ask on that for their regular beers, since I'm not a hops guy. The Bender is about as far as I go. For special releases, the Syxx and the SeVIIn are awesome. The Darkness is on another level.

Abrasive, Darkness, Wet, and Furious are the big 4. Too bad they weren't around to drown my sorrows when I was out there in 2002!

Abrasive and Furious are readily available, from what I've seen. They came out with Blakkr recently, and that got good reviews (Black IPA, IIRC). A little pricey, about $15-17 for a tallboy 4-pack.

Most of the good tallboy 4 packs on the east coast are in that range including Heady which i'm drinking now. Although Bissell Brothers which is a Maine company recently released a 4 pack of a very good pale ale at $12 that has driven down some of the local pricing.

Overrated is the most recent Surly I've gotten in to. Had one tonight, along with a Fulton Sweet Child of Vine, and quite a few Premiums.

If you lived anywhere in a state touching Minnesota, I'd say buy the lot out and I'd drive to you to get it.
