New Holland Brewing Paleooza. It's one of their seasonal beers, so I wanted to try it. Also picked up a sixer of their Sundog Amber Ale. It's a lighter beer, so I hope I won't be disappointed.

Just chilling with a Buffalo Sweat Vanilla Bean Stout. It should be disappearing off the shelves soon, as it's a seasonal.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Moved on from Margaritas and having some Clement VSOP Agricole Rhum.

This is a French style rhum which means it's made from sugar cane juice rather than molasses. I'm trying to appreciate this type of rum (rhum), but it has a very different taste from the rums that I like more, which are the more traditional molasses-based aged rums. Not just the sweet ones either.

By review, Clement is a highly regarded variety of these, but I'm more tolerating it than enjoying it. Not sweet like traditional gold rums would be and has an odd aftertaste. This is not the only variety of this type (rhum agricole) that I've had... Rhum Barbancourt is the same type and to be honest I feel that Appleton and Plantation 2000 Old Reserve taste very similar.

Hard to describe the difference, but it's similar to how bourbon is different from whiskey. I also don't love bourbon because of the odd (to my palate) aftertaste.

I'll keep trying though as I am a trooper.

I haven't had rum in years. In college I drank Bacardi and Mountain Dew.

By default I have quite a collection of booze. Most of my stuff is bourbon, whiskey and scotch. Last night I tapped a bottle of Black Maple Hill bourbon. It's ok.

Crown is my number one because we have a twenty year love affair but Makers 46 is a very close second.

We have a local distiller here in my neck of the woods that barreled some stuff two years ago. It's now ready and it's a whiskey called Minnesota 14. Keep an eye on this stuff as the owner has a impressive plan and his intentions are to be a big player. Panther distillery.

                    -shudder-

That sounds horrible and have never heard of anyone drinking that before.

Reminds me of the first time I got wasted to the point that I yacked - on three floors of my parents house no less. We mixed some So Com with a 2 liter of warm Mello Yellow. Went down pretty well after the first few swigs and eventually I was chugging.

Next day, didn't wanna admit that I'd been drinking and blamed it on a bad cheeseburger. They still give me crap about the cheeseburger 27 years later.

They made me clean up a three areas of yack including said cheeseburger remnants.

I don't believe I've had Southern Comfort or for that matter, Mello Yellow since.

Drinking the Sundog now. For an amber ale, it's pleasant, but I think I like Bell's a little more.

Speaking of Mountain Dew, in high school we would mix Malibu and Mountain Dew. Only the coconut scent would be detected and some other girl in the group would say it was their lotion.

I preferred, in college, Wild Cherry Pepsi and Vodka. The wild cherry would throw off the vodka smell. If you saw me carrying a bottle of wild cherry, the probability of there being vodka in there was high.

                              How was the coffee stout?

Those are my 2 favorite things: coffee and stout beer.

If he is referring to the Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee Stout, good luck on getting it. It's as difficult as the Founder's KBS to get (comes out once a year, etc). I got 2 12oz bottles last year, and a buddy got 2 of the regular BCS. We traded one bottle of each to each other. Both are absolutely f*ing phenomenal.

Edit: it also runs about $6/bottle.
