Big Ten announces football championship will stay in Indy through 2021.

Indy seems like a good venue, but I would like to see them take five years off at some point and hit up the other stadiums in Big Ten country. Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, GB, Minneapolis. Maybe alternate so Indy gets it five years and the other cities once. But they would probably want to limit it to indoor stadiums, which means Indy, Detroit and Minneapolis are the only options. However I just realized that Big Ten country now includes Philly, Fed Ex, and the Meadowlands. So never mind, keep it in Indy.

For those not following the O'Bannon trial, it's awesome so far. It is a bench trial and the presiding judge does not follow athletics at all, so she is asking the NCAA witnesses all kinds of questions. She hasn't suffered through the NCAA propaganda year after year, so she is having a really difficult time understanding why, for example, Nike can pay a coach millions of dollars for a shoe deal but none of that money goes to the players.

Today was a monumental day. The NCAA's own expert witness (who is being paid a huge sum in "consulting fees") called the NCAA a cartel, but a cartel that does "good things" not bad. Can anyone give an example of a cartel that does good things? Selling drugs and manipulating oil prices do not qualify.

That 30 for 30, The Two Escobars, made Pedro out to be a halfway decent fellow. He did a lot of good things AND sold drugs. But he killed people, so that's a strike against him. However, he may have redistributed his wealth better than the NCAA does.

I would advise everyone to make the most out of today that they can. Dark days are upon us, for tomorrow marks the day Rutgers joins/ruins the Big Ten Conference.

They say they wanted Rutgers for NYC. They're not even that well liked there. Syracuse is more of a presence in that area than Rutgers.

NCAA taking another look at North Carolina. Guess North Carolina A&T better hide the silverware.

Right now, you could probably pay someone in front of Emmert and nothing would change. They're a little busy.

This reminds me to post something I've been mulling for a while now, which is pondering whether there will be any Title IX implications once football and basketball players are finally and fully considered to be employees. Title IX applies to "any education program or activity." If football programs are employers and not educators, would they be exempt from Title IX? And how many women's crew slots would be cut in the first year following that ruling?

It does seem like you ought not to have it both ways: either football programs are employers which should be accountable to the appropriate employment laws, OR they are education programs which are subject to Title IX.
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

I dislike the fact we play OSU, MSU, PSU, and UM less, but I'm not gonna complain that Iowa will get a substantially bigger check from the BTN.
