I hope it is ruled unconstitutional...the law is a joke.

What about it do you find to be unconstitutional (as opposed to just not liking the law)?

And I hope Super Congress halves the military budget.

The law's a joke cause they pussed out and didn't implement a real democratic plan, just some half baked repub plan.

I think it is over reaching to force people to purchase a health care plan. Making it illegal not to is ridiculous.

Even if it isnt unconstitutional, I hope somehow it gets thrown out by Congress then. If I wanted Bob Dole's plan I would have voted for him. The Dems screwed the pooch (as per usual) on Health Care Reform and their crappy bill is the proof. They bowed to the bullies calling them Socialists and couldnt even include the public option. Now we have the old system only now it is illegal not to participate! Sweet, I am sure United Health Groups, Medica and Blue Cross are just counting down the days until the plan goes into full effect.

Absolutely not a fan of it all. Still feel that medicine as a for profit business is not viable and that both sides prostituted themselves into not taking the publics interest into consideration to please special interests. However, as someone working in primary care, I have seen some benefits that no one seems to be covering. The law requires that most insurances/medicare cover a well exam every yr with appropriate screening tests. This is a huge relief to many patients who couldn't afford to have a check up. Prior to this Medicare only covered one entrance check-up that had to occur within the 1st 6 months of enrollment and that was it. Many people were unaware of the rule and missed the window. Medicare also penalized us if we could not show the person had a well check. Catch 22. They couldn't afford to come and pay, if they didn't come then we lost boatloads of money.

A significant number (so many that we now are booking physicals out by a few months more than we ever have) of my medicare pts and patients with big deductables are coming in after a few or more yrs hiatus. The appointment coverage allows for screening, prevention teaching etc. We are seeing increased compliance, less time on my staff's part trying to encourage people to follow thru with what was recommended because now they can afford to go. It is also a $ relief to providers- some insurances required certain screening measures be met or they withhold $. They didn't cover those tests/screenings so we just took a massive hit when the patient couldn't afford to do it. Would love to see some numbers about the impact on a national level by a neutral party.

On facebook- "... I am comparing France's health care system to that of the U.S.
I think in that process I may have created my favorite metaphor.

"Let’s compare these two systems to say, a horse race. France has a horse that has space shuttle rockets attached to it. The U.S. has a horse that is a quadruple amputee where it’s only means of conveyance is propelling itself with its tongue. Which do you think will win the race?"

This from a HS student. It is apropos and sadly true.
