Pretty sure a water cooler behind the bench could have coached the 01 Avs and the 13 Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup just as well.

Except Babcock has had far less to work with in recent years, yet the Wings keep making the playoffs. And there was that slightly above average Anaheim team that he got to a Cup Final. So, no.

But Babcock hasn't won a Cup with this "less to work with" crew. So, yes.

Tell me, how did your beloved "Coach Q" do in the playoffs with the Blues and the Divealanche?

Not that it matters in the view of a Hawks fan.

Just want to make sure I understand what you're saying:

If Babcock wins, its because he's a great coach.
If Quenneville wins, its because he has a stacked team.

If Babcock loses, its because he has less to work with.
If Quenneville loses, its because he's a mediocre coach.

            Got it.

              That was my takeaway too.

My current boss at the newspaper I work at covered SLU for a time and he had to deal with Pierre. He was thinking his crap didn't stink when he was a lowly assistant. His attitude hasn't changed at all.

Just bought a pair of Panthers season tickets.

$616 for both, including parking, 4 concerts, and 2 jerseys.

I'll go to the Bruins games, and maybe another few, but the vast majority I'll sell...

...and if I can't break even selling the tickets for $7 each...well, then I'm a sucker.

I really think I'll be able to though. With 4 of the Original 6 down there, I think I'll do okay. I'm okay with not making a profit, just want to break even.

The 5 month payment plan helps.

That being said, I could see the permit getting extended another five years because the Dolans will drag their heels and it will take quite a while to find suitable real estate and get an arena built.
I don't see why it's the Dolans' problem to find real estate and get an arena built when it's NYC that wants to tear down MSG. Sounds like NYC's problem.

Not a terrible idea...If I wasn't a Buffalo Bills season ticket holder and have my money tied up with them I'd consider this...

If I could make it to a couple games that would be a great deal. Just the 2 jerseys are a bargain, if you want a Florida jersey. Sadly they play Detroit and Montreal at the same time Maine is playing over in Estero, so even if I went down for the tournament I couldn't stop by to see the Panthers.

My understanding, though it may be flawed, is that the existence of MSG at its current location is only possible because of a variance (related to zoning or occupancy or something, I'm not completely sure; all the articles I'm finding just refer to the "permit" without much detail beyond its duration) and that there isn't an intrinsic entitlement that they're authorized to utilize the structure with the kind of capacity they do. Thus, it is their problem because their ability to operate MSG exists at the whim of the City Council. Whether that should be the case is a separate issue, of course.

Bovada Sportsbook has released the 2014 Stanley Cup odds. Chicago is the favorite at 6/1, Pittsburgh is just behind them at 13/2 and the Bruins are 10/1. Both Chicago and Pittsburgh are 5/2 favorites to win their respective conferences. The Bruins are 19/4 in the East and Los Angeles and St Louis are both 6/1 in the West.

The aforementioned Panthers are the long shot at 75/1
