Sad, but probably inevitable. It wasn't anything Ference did, or didn't do; in fact he may have been the Bruins best defenseman in games 5 and 6. Unfortunately, he hit free agency just after Bartkowski and Krug emerged in the playoffs.

I read somewhere that he had a bulging disk in his back pressing against his spine that caused him to lose all sensation in one of his legs.
