  • Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Just got a news update on my phone that the Stars hired Lindy Ruff.

It will make me sad when Dallas beats Buffalo again in the Finals.

I am planning a viewing party at The Four's on Monday night for game 6. Tix to the game are going to be too pricey, so watching there is the best alternative. If you want in, post here or email directly to jhfhockey(at)gmail.com

Downtown Calgary, including the Saddledome and Stampede Park, is under water today. Flood water inside the Saddledome is ten rows high and climbing.

More on the situation in Calgary and Kananaskis Country. Two people are confirmed dead, one is missing.

“It’s shocking what we are looking at,” said Libby Raines, VP Building Operations for the Calgary Flames.

“You’re eyeballing it but there’s a lot of water and it’s up to the 8th, 9th or tenth row. However, from the last report it doesn’t appear it has risen at all since then.”

Indeed that means the rink, the ice plant and a few thousand seats are submerged by the shocking overflow that swept over Stampede Park and the downtown core.

It also means the dressing rooms, the Jumbotron nerve centre, the Ed Whalen Lounge and the Hot Stove Lounge are all likely destroyed, as well. Plenty of history will likely be ruined too, including a massive championship team photo from 1989 signed by most team members that hangs outside the Flames dressing room.

uh no. not at all. I know what we have here and have enjoyed the ride immensely. Other boston fans are also aware. Other fans are jealous in a good way ( I work with the navy so a lot of guys from other parts of the country).

So, the Globe has this blogger called Obnoxious Boston Fan. He's a sportswriter in Florida but he's from my hometown and I know his family, went to grammar school, junior high and high school with his brothers, and his uncle and my dad have known each other since high school. Anyway, he's pretty funny and writes about all Boston sports. Earlier this week he had posted about how the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and an art museum in Chicago were decking out artwork with Bruins and Blackhawks regalia - it was pretty cool. His cousin Joanne, who I've known my entire life, is also an artist and she got inspired and did her own...check it out.

The Bruins are coming! The Bruins are coming!

Photo from the Barclays Center's Twitter account of the arena set up for hockey. The scoreboard isn't over center ice & there are not any seats behind the one net. Check out the seats in the lower left corner.

Same pattern on the opposite side of the "ice".

Can the folks in the upper deck on the short end see their end zone? From the angle it seems doubtful.

Didn't Bettman / Wang study the sight lines BEFORE making the announcement?

Now if the Devils go kaput, maybe the Islanders can fold and become the new Devils and move to Newark???
