From Ottawa beat writer: Daniel Alfredsson had telephone discussions with Detroit's Ken Holland and Boston's Peter Chiarelli today. Those were the only two teams.

Rumors in Boston that the Bruins are negotiating an eight year extension with Bergeron. You always want to assume that your teams is the one that doesn't do the awful contract, but I think there is reason to believe that could work out if the money/loading are reasonable. That would take him through his age 37 season, which isn't that old. He's a useful player if he isn't scoring. The big concern, in one word: concussion.

I guess when he's on the ice, the Caps will skate shorthanded, and he will play both wings.
And then not have a provision to keep the cap the same for the shortened season to prevent the requirement of all these compliance buyouts right away...unless they wanted to pay players to not play on top of paying players to play? Pretty sad situation created by a horrible lockout...

I honestly feel horrible for the City of Seattle. Leagues just love using that place as leverage. I really think they could support a team. Not only do they get jobbed out of the NHL, but lost out on the AHL as well. They need to be given a team in the next round of expansion. (Which will happen.)
