Health insurance costs to plummet in NY?! THEY'RE THE HIGHEST IN THE COUNTRY AND COULDN'T GET ANY HIGHER!!! That's like saying the housing crash of 2007 didn't exist because real estate prices in Buffalo went up. Don't let those facts get in the way of your pandering, though.

So, you say that companies aren't capping their employment to circumvent legislation. Darden restaurants didn't recently make changes to employment style (owners of Olive Garden and Red Lobster), and Regal didn't just lay off a bunch of full-time workers. No, they just put those words out there to put a smile on the faces of those who supposedly have their lips securely affixed to the Speaker of the House's rear end.

No dice Flaggy. In your fear-mongering you never put a ceiling on your predictions for how high premiums could go under Obamacare. You don't get to pull that out of your @_ss now. Perhaps your problem is that when the law is implemented properly it actually works as advertised?

When did I say that they could only go in one direction in both the short-term and long-term? And when was I talking about a specific state instead of the country as a whole during "fear-mongering"? The whole time, I was talking about the country in general in a long-term sense. I'm guessing your fancy education didn't include any economics classes, and if they did, probably just a bunch of pro-Communism hogwash. Oh, but let the ends justify the means. Huff-and-puffers are good at that.

I will destroy your Regal comment right now. From wikipedia: "In June 2011, after posting a loss for the first quarter, Regal began downsizing its theater employees by removing managers from projection and replacing them with lower paid floor staff. This move allowed Regal to layoff part time managers across the country and forcibly demote many full time managers to part time. As theaters converted to all digital automated screens, Regal also removed projectionists altogether. This focus on "cost control" helped the company post better than expected profits for the 3rd quarter of that year"

So....hmm.....what's funny about this story....oh yeah, they started converting employees to part time IN 2011 DUE TO DECLINING PROFITS!!! I don't like humiliating you guys on a regular basis but you have to admit some fault of your own here.

You're still a fraud who constantly employs two sets of standards, generously loose in your own behalf, strict in restraint for those who disagree with you in any debate or discussion per your general spreading of horse manure. Opposition to more of the Affordable Care Act is becoming bipartisan.

The first measure, which sailed through 264 to 161 with 35 Democrats in favor, codified President Obama's decision to suspend the Affordable Care Act's employer mandate to extend insurance benefits to workers or else pay a penalty. The White House lacks the legal authority to delay the mandate by fiat, so the vote was a vindication of the rule of law.

The other vote was on behalf of fairness, a principle that liberals usually claim to like. Why relax ObamaCare's mandate for well-connected corporations but not the mandate that applies to individuals? By 251 to 174, the House voted to delay the individual mandate-tax to purchase insurance for the same one-year period that Mr. Obama is delaying the employer mandate. Twenty-two Democrats joined that majority. [emphases added]

By contrast, 0 Republicans voted in favor of PPACA in the House and Senate combined.

In Lafayette, Ind., a school district cut the hours of 200 support staff to no more than 29 per week. In Bangor, Maine, the school system is preparing to track and cap the number of hours worked by substitute teachers to ensure that they don't work more than 29 hours a week. Elsewhere, in Portland, Maine, a small business reduced a part-time employee's hours from 35 to 29.

We are hearing reports like this from across the country. Why is this happening?

It's happening because under the Affordable Care Act a "full-time employee" is defined as anyone working an average of 30 hours a week, rather than the traditionally accepted 40-hour work week. Employers with more than 50 full-time employees or full-time equivalents will be required to provide their employees with health insurance or potentially face a financial penalty, essentially a fine.

This rule is causing a growing number of employers to cut the hours of their workers, and according to one study by the UC Berkeley Labor Center, at least 2.3 million workers are at risk. This provision of the health law is not in the best interests of the country, and it needs to change. [emphases added]

The guy running the register said that he worked 25 hours there, and then another 25 at the Wendy's by his house. He told me that outside of the two or three "big" (his word) managers at both places, everyone's like that.

Now I fully expect some of you dinosaurs to post something about how Joe's All You Can Eat Chicken Shack in town reduced Betsy the Waitress from 35 hours to 29, which may or may not be due to Obamacare, but the problem with all of your anecdotes is that its undone by simple facts, sorta like how I torched the Regal Cinemas and the Darden Restaurants examples in an earlier post. Susan Collins and Joe Donnelly are wrong, simply put. Doesn't make them bad people. More like nervous nellies. . The law is in place and the savings are starting to be realized.

PS - In two financial companies I've worked for, "full time" was a 37.5 hour work week.

I worked at a restaurant in high school as a busboy. Even though my shifts were scheduled for 6 hours, I rarely worked more than 3 before being cut following the lunch/dinner rush. That was in the late nineties and I was making all of 3.15/hr plus a cut of the tips.

talk about worthless sourcing of "facts". You're referencing a White House press release about how awesome the White House plan is going to be NEXT YEAR. The levels of bizarrity in this little fantasyworld "news item" hurt my brain.

The longer we put off admitting that Obamacare has been a complete failure and is bankrupting us, the more it's going to hurt when we finally do. The time to scrap this fiasco was before any of these layoffs started.
