One of these years, I'm going to serve venison. You know, something wild and MURICAN.

What the heck is corn pudding.

Good Spag and MB would be OK for me. I could care less for the turkey. Love the veggies!

since when is Thanksgiving about spaghetti and meatballs? so you can pick one thing to change, but not another?

traditionalist here too. it's the only time of the year I eat turkey and stuffing.
but I think marshmallows on sweet potatoes are disgusting.

And to me, spaghetti and meatballs sounded WAY more appetizing than turkey + sides for the umpteenth year in a row.
How many times a year do you have turkey with sides? How many times a year do you have spaghetti and meatballs?

I dated a woman in college who had served in the coast guard in NY and had gotten invited to an Italian family dinner with one of her boat mates. She said they had turkey, stuffing and gravy, then brought out the pasta and pizza.

King Arthur Flour has free shipping on orders over $75 and my day is made. Maybe even my whole month.

I haven't had spaghetti and meatballs at all in the last 4 years. I've had puttanesca, I've had pomodoro, but no spaghetti and meatballs. I can still devote the day to gluttony, but turkey just isn't on the menu.

you completely missed the point. I'm not picking on you for having spaghetti and meatballs. you seem to have a problem with people who may want healthier holiday recipes and at the same time, you're having a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner yourself. why is one OK, but not the other? aren't the holidays whatever you want them to be?

The holidays are whatever you want them to be. I just never saw (even when I was anorexic) how "low-fat" played into the menu.

I am looking for a traditional meatball recipe, one that involves beef, veal, and pork... and also a recipe for buttermilk herb dressing for my salad.

My mom used to make about 20 different cookies and they were highly sought after by friends and neighbors. I'm thinking Fed Ex delivers too bad I couldn't eat any of them if they were dropped in front of me. That list looks like 5lbs of instant weight gain
pretty much. total of 11 pounds flour, 11 lbs of butter, 34 eggs and 8 lbs each of white and brown sugars. Donating to a local low-income housing organization, cookies for the troops, and a community center. and friends and family, of course. I do not attempt to make any of them healthy, but I did make more of an effort for a few gluten-free varieties this year (a bunch of the hockey girls are, and I figure gluten-free donations are hard to come by, but probably needed).

Very nice, I'll bet folks love it, nothing says Christmas like good homemade cookies. One of my faves was just a simple shortbread, can't go wrong with lots of butter
