Amusing how the lasting memory of the RNC 2012 will be Clint Eastwood talking to himself on stage in a spot on Grampa Simpson impersonation! I know the usual media lemmings will spin this as a brilliant tactical ploy, but I can't think they wanted this to happen.

Hilariously the guy does sum up conservatives. Old, white, wealthy, and grouchy.

Regarding Romney, he delivered a 'quarterly earnings' speech that CEO's deliver to investors every 3 months. Not bad by any stretch, not great, but just there. After the Eastwood debacle, I guess anything would look good.

Every Romney speech I've seen begins like a poorly-timed visit from the Jehovah's Witnesses and ends like a slick but vacant ad for mutual funds.

Ryan connects very well and always sounds like he's talking substance (even when he's just repeating fallacious talking points). This is like 2004 more and more: their best bet is for the charismatic albeit sleazy Veep to make all the speeches and the wooden, wind-up nominee to hide in an undisclosed location.

This is what happens when a trust fund kid with no foreign policy experience, education, or interest gets handed a speech by some tinfoil "expert" and run out there on a gurney. He winds up sounding like a cross between Joe Liebermann and Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

I hate those kind of criticisms. Do people really think Romney doesn't support the troops or understand the gravity of having them committed to that conflict?

I have to call BS on it. I hate it when they say stuff like that about Obama, and it's just as bad here. It smacks of "you did not properly genuflect, therefore you are heretic!!!"

I understand that, but even being within 1/8000th, let alone 1/8th, is too close.

First off, I don't think that small business owners are the ones that people are thinking about when they think of rich people not paying enough taxes.

Now, if you believe that small business owners will be disproportionately effected by a raise in their personal income tax (not talking about the business, but their own take home), I'd have to wonder how that would effect their employees in the way you are implying. The tax hike would be on people making more than $250k a year.

If you're making that kind of jack, it seems unlikely that paying a bit more is gonna send you spiraling into personal bankruptcy. To be clear, we're not talking about someone here who owns a lawn cutting business or a boutique with 10 employees. It's VERY unlikely that those people are paying themselves $250k per year.

Yeah I don't think anywhere is anyone talking about small business owners paying more. It's about things like eliminating the capital gains tax and raising the rate on the upper brackets. It's not about punishing them its just getting them to pay a share for once.
