The ball was just above his nipples. It wasn't exactly a Jose Valverde meatball.

    Another perspective...
    John Buccigross ‏@Buccigross
For the love of God, the ball was right down the middle, just above the waist, 95 mph. Known in Boston as a "Josh Beckett" fastball

Well.....Sandoval never met a ball he didn't want to swing at. *shrug*

Earned runs? Or did Valverde really give up 15 runs?

FWIW, the Twins had beaten the A's in 2002, and we all know how the Twins fare against the Yankees.

Either way, I'll be rooting for Detroit in the Series, so good luck Tigers and bring home the title.

I'm thinking this series is going 6 or 7 games. That's about it. If the Tigers can avoid the "deer in the headlights" play they exhibited in St.Louis in 2006, they'll be okay.

In other news, our good friend Joel Zumaya is in town fishing on lake St. Clair for small mouth bass. I hope he doesn't break something casting.

I still think Valverde is injured. Mix in the fact that his velocity is off 3-4 MPH, and he doesn't want to throw/doesn't have control of the splitter. Smoke and fire...

Looks like midnight came tonight for the Cards.
