Mine are two, in a Q&A format.

    Q: Weltanschuung?

It just fits the stereotype so perfectly . Things I'd expect to hear immediately following:

      "Hände Hoch!"
      "Halt! Grenzpolizei!"
As a German speaker uberraschung is also one of my faves. Love the kinder uberraschung chocolates

        Happy Birthday!

I can guess your age in just two questions and neither involves a number. (Learned this from a friend.)

        - Is either of your grandmothers alive?
        - Is your mother alive?

Answer N twice: You are 39.
Answer N once: You are 29 (the living mother/grandmother is 39).
No N answers: You are 24 (unless you choose to be 19).

A female can only have one of those three ages (39, 29, 24). That is all. Period. End of conversation.

That simple understanding of women's ages has served me well.

No, you're always one of those ages.
You just happen to also be one of those ages.

              Here's a random post.

Does anyone else here watch the "ContraPoints" channel on YouTube? Run by a trans-woman who has a PhD (or close to it) in philosophy, and plays all her own characters. Every time she does the "Tabby" character, I immediately think of a certain far-lefty here.

Here's (one of) her critiques of the far left.

Nobody on this board is on the "far left" lmao.

That said Contrapoints is good and she sometimes comes on as a guest on a show I do watch.

TRP seems as good a place as any.

Can any German speakers/learners explain why there are at least four different ways to say "Anyway/Anyhow" in German?

So far, I've got "Irgendwie" and "Sowieso". To me, "Sowieso" makes the most sense, because "Wieso" means "Why?", which is simply a natural extension of saying a pompous English, "Why so?"

In my mind (and I could be wrong - German thinking has often been a bit backwards for me), with "Sowieso", you're sort of answering the "Why?" question, with "Anyway/how...", "In any case...", "Thus...", "So therefore..."

Is Sowieso a single word, or a common phrase made of "So wie so"? I always wrote it that way in high school and was never corrected. Perhaps my Deutsch teacher was lax on that matter, I don't know.

Regardless, in most languages there are multiple ways to say the same thing when it comes to certain common terms/sentiments. Often the differences are either regional or class in origins.
"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command." George Orwell, 1984

"One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its Black Gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep, and the Great Eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust, the very air you breathe is a poisonous fume." Boromir

"Good news! We have a delivery." Professor Farnsworth

The way it's presented to me, it's a single word, but we are talking about Duolingo here.

And ja, I am already familiar with the latter. Like using the verb "kennen" to say you are familiar with a person or place, but "wissen" to say you know how to do something.

Or "Nummer" for fixed numbers like addresses, apartments and hotel rooms, versus "Zahle" for arithmetic.
