  • 2012 Atlantic Hurricane Season: Non-Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

The season doesn't begin until June 1, but there is a low-probabality area over Cuba http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/.

I also wanted to prove to Kepler that I can remember thread-title ideas from about a year ago.

Because some people secretly hope a typhoon takes aim at the shithole called Los Angeles?

Don't build your city below sea level.

Don't build your city in a desert.

Don't build your city next to a volcano.

Don't build your city on top of a fault line.

Don't build your house on a flood plain of a large river.

Don't build your house on a sand bar/barrier island.

It doesn't need to be a large river, The Red River of the North is practically a creek in the summer months and it ****s over Fargo pretty regularly.

When did Los Angeles move west of the Dateline? When a storm is east of the dateline it's called a Hurricane, west of the dateline it's a Typhoon (in the North Pacific).

The problem is that most cities regard 75% as passing.

Really? I thought it was a typhoon if it was in the Pacific or Indian ocean.

Are you sure? The date line doesn't mean anything (not that the Brits didn't do some dumb things when they ran the planet).

                          edit: yes, you're right.
