It's because we have AHL backup (well, until we traded Ben Bishop, then he was the starter) Jake Allen backing Elliott up. Halak still isn't fully recovered from the ankle injury he suffered in Game 2.

I couldn't resist the urge, but I found a preview of the Caps special intro for Ovechkin.

Based on Bradley-Terry rankings (i.e., KRACH) found here, the updated (after 4/30) most likely outcomes are:

          West: LAK in 5 (20.0%), PHX in 5 (23.5%)
          East: NYR in 6 (26.0%), PHI in 5 (24.1%)

          Overall winning probabilities:
          West
          STL 31.6% - LAK 68.4%
          PHX 77.5% - NSH 22.5%

          East
          NYR 68.5% - WAS 31.5%
          PHI 78.1% - NJD 21.9%

As always, KRACH is not a perfect predictive system. In fact, it's not predictive at all; it's retrodictive. Home-ice advantage, momentum, and the like can not be accounted for reliably, so they are ignored.

Remarks: ...Kings ... Anyway, nothing particularly exciting going on mathematically speaking.

          Next Round possibilities:

So my fiancee and I are planning our wedding in Ithaca next year; is it wrong that I'm completely ready to pick this one photographer based on the fact that he did Dustin Brown's wedding?

So Radulov and Kostitsyn are out for game 3. Were seen out drinking at 4am the morning of game 2. Seriously, you have all summer to party like rock stars and they choose to do that before a playoff game. Dummies.

Odd, I forgot to put in the rangers, but meant too.

I'd rather have this than the Flyers winning.
