    Well, first of all, being on Facebook is a life decision I haven't made.

    Supposedly they went into hibernation until the weather got warmer. Well, it's certainly warmer in some places, but I don't see them out there reenacting the Tennis Court Oath.

    OWS and the Tea Party were stupid in a lot of ways, but their shared fundamental insight that we have become a Dictatorship of Money was dead on. If they had not gotten themselves intertwined with a hundred secondary and highly divisive social causes, they could have really done some good things. What might have been.

      I don't see any venom in him calling a spade a spade. "I don't give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them and they think it's Hell."

      Reagan was *very* political, but he did it with the studied folksiness learned by a lifetime of acting. Obama is at heart an academic, so when he does it he can sound a lot like a college professor.

      Personally, I rather listen to an academic I disagree with than some "aw shucks" Elmer Gantry shtick. But that's all a matter of taste.

        What I like best about this is braindead GOP tactics are driving up Obama's favorable ratings far more than he's been able to do so himself. Presidents commonly suffer from a disappointment gap running for re-election as not everything they promised to do ends up happening for one reason or another. However, when the opposition are total idiots, swing voters decide to stick with the guy they know.

        So when the nutters are lauching a war against contraception for example, who exactly are they trying to appeal to? Frustrated 30-50 year old male virgins voting conservative to take out their frustrations on everybody else? Guys, I don't think that's very significant voting block, even if you yourself are part of it.

        So by all means keep up the Birther logic (another GOP rep "went there" this weekend), forced ultrasounds, banning birth control, and by all means, the Ryan budget! If you had to assign a symbol to that, it should be an anchor attached to a chain that will soon be wrapped around The Mittster.

            Romney trails Obama by 18 points among women in swing states. I am not a paid political consultant, but I'm going to go with that not being a good thing for Romney.

                  And yet... the floor for any major party nominee in a 2 man race is still 45%.

                        Are you sure? We don't run into solvency problems for a while yet on that, and anecdotally, the members of my family that fought in the 2nd world war have all been gone for at least 7 years. The (legally) youngest anywhere would be 85 now.

                          Let me rephrase it.

                          The Boomers are the ones who will bankrupt us. Even if they weren't so selfish they would anyway just by sheer numbers. They are the economic problem.

                          But as far as the consequences for this election go, the Greatests are the ones who will send Romney back to Millionaire Acres in a body bag because of the Ryan plan social security scam. The Greatests are the political problem.

                          It's ironic because IIRC Ryan's scheme doesn't kick in for anyone over 55. This is just one more indicator the Ryan plan is political gamesmanship. If it were a sincere proposal for reform, and not an attempt to destroy SS, why not make it apply to every SS recipient immediately? Because they need the votes of the Olds (other than white fundies it's their only demographic left), and those people know it's a poison pill.

                                They both are. The Greatests put in programs that are unsustainable. The Boomers will milk those programs until there's nothing left in this country. Plenty of blame to go around here guys. No need to squabble over it.
