Re: New/Rented Movies: Have Mercy on Michael Bay's Soul, He Knows Not What He Does
Off to go wait for avengers.
bueller: Why is the sunset good? Why are boobs good? Why does Positrack work? Why does Ferris lose on the road and play dead at home?
It just happens.
nmupiccdiva: I'm sorry I missed you this weekend! I thought I saw you at the football game, but I didn't want to go up to a complete stranger and ask "are you Monster?" and have it not be you!
And now the nerds who came in costume are mock fighting in front. Haha!

And yeah, stay for all of the credits. There's 2 extra scenes there and they're both worth waiting for.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Have Mercy on Michael Bay's Soul, He Knows Not What He Does
Avengers was dang good...I didnt spooge myself like a lot of the nerds did but I did enjoy it. I will fully admit though the only characters I really like on that team are Hulk and Captain America so that is part of it. As I said to my buddy, this movie is about as close to an actual comic as you will see...warts and all. (that is the difference between this and Nolans Batman which is very much NOT like a comic for the most part) I didnt love everything Whedon did (I am not a huge fan of his) but it is easily the best of the comic book movies. (as opposed to movies based on comic characters)
I thought the first "extra" scene was lame but I had that predicted about 20 minutes into the movie. The second one was hilarious though.

No it isnt...with or without the sarcasm
This is going to be an interesting summer though...with this, Prometheus and The Dark Knight Rises coming out it might finally be the true Revenge of the Nerds.
I wonder how WB will respond...no way they wont ramp up production of a few of their properties. Only having Superman coming down the pike is not going to be enough when exectives see how much these movies make nowadays.

Promethius? Really? That is supposed to be a big deal? I saw a preview for it and it looked 100% crap. I can't believe people would want to see that trash based on the what I saw in previews.
Having a clear conscience just means you have a bad memory or you had a boring weekend.

I think we agree to disagree on that one

Re: New/Rented Movies: Have Mercy on Michael Bay's Soul, He Knows Not What He Does
I saw Avengers at midnight...wow, am I getting old. As a non-comic book person who'd only seen (and enjoyed), the Iron Man movies, I thought it was decent. I thought the corny dialogue was a bit over the top and didn't really enjoy when the rest of the theater would start clapping as if "yeah, he got that right". It was alright, something to do with friends for me but something I'd probably wait to watch on DVD typically. Captain America was extremely wooden, I thought. I was disappointed in the 2nd extra scene after waiting through all those credits at 2:45am.

Captain America is a wooden character, always has been even in the comics. (which was actually why I liked his comic back in the day) He is a remnant of WWII afterall
When I said "As I said to my buddy, this movie is about as close to an actual comic as you will see...warts and all." the corny dialogue was one of those warts. This could literally be drawn and put into a comic book and it would be perfect because that is what most action books are like. The dialogue is cheesy as hell, one liners are everywhere, the plotholes are plentiful (why would an archer not be killed right away in an alien invasion and yet both the Avengers and Justice League have one) but the action is awesome. This movie is complete and total eye candy, just like a comic book is.
It is overhyped, but most movies are these days. (see also: Games, Hunger) In two months the Dark Knight will be overhyped as well by the nerds as the GRATEST MOVIE EVER!!!11111!!11!1 and I will get sick of that too and I am a way bigger Batman fan than Marvel fan. It is the nature of the beast.

I thought it was awesome. Best Marvel movie ever. By far. Finally got Hulk right. Iron Man was awesome again. Thor was better than his own film and the guy playing Loki is casting perfection.
I don't think its overhyped. It delivered. Something that's been lacking in most Marvel fair.

I'm not a comic movie guy. I'm not even a comic guy. But I am actually somewhat curious about this movie, given the reviews and plot and such. I love me some Batman and Superman movies, but those are classic. Have not seen any other comic movie besides "Kick-Ass" that I can remember.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

The thing I learned from this movie, is that the Hulk is kind of a dick. Loki's line to him and the result were worth the cost of a ticket.
