Not to disagree with any of that. You know there is just so much that goes into the speed you have just prior to braking for the corner. How you came out of the corner previously, how the car is working this lap,( a lot of times the tires change grip slightly from lap to lap) did you get impeded in traffic, did you get a tow, or are you trying to get by some guy as you approach this particular corner, were you able to get on the gas real early, just how hard, blah de blah it all goes into where the braking point is on this lap.
But you know if you lose even 2 or 3 ft to the guy in front of you in three out of five corners you will not be on the same lap in 10 minutes. Guys like Bill Scott could hold their braking so late and were so smooth, it was really amazing how much car control they had. You could not make any mistakes at all or you fell back 8 or 10 ft and you were not getting those 10 feet back. Pretty soon he was on a different corner than you were.
