Tejada missed a pickoff attempt. I'd say that should be included

I love Cap'n Kirk but he came pretty close when the Giants were in town. On one play he misplayed the fly going back, reached out and had it go off his glove, then dropped it when he tried to rush picking it up. His throw in was good, but if it had missed the cutoff I'd say that would have been the equivalent of touching em all.

Mets take 2 of 3 from the D-backs, then win in Philly?

The blue is also a shade bluer, which is traditional, and the black unis are almost phased out -- they are only wearing them a couple times a month.

It is a year of sartorial splendor for the Metsies.

I love the fact we have gone the road grey's again with New York on the chest. Much sharper look.

Actually, I think there's no black whatsoever. So the black is trashed, and the Mets are winning. I think Paul Lukas and Howie Rose see the connection.

I was skeptical of the new black-less road jerseys at first. I didn't like the 97 version. But these are growing on me now. Don't know why.

Can someone tell SNY to stop using black as the Mets' default color, though?

                      Let's sweep tonight!

Unfortunately there will still be black a few times this year. Gary Cohen jokingly (I think) said in Spring Training that he just wouldn't broadcast those games.

The really sweet change is they finally got rid of that horrible dropshadowing. The exec who greenlit that originally should be shot. The greatest uniforms in Mets history remain the 1973 version, and we're about as close to those as modern idiotic sensibilities will allow.

I don't know why SNY uses so much black -- some marketing study in the 90's must have said it sold the most Bud Light because sports TV has been riddled with it ever since. Or it's Clive Campbell's fault.

Nice comeback today by the fighting metropolitans on a really good bullpen in Cincinnati.

All things considered, I guess 2-2 isn't awful against the Brewers and Reds. We're starting to get deeper and deeper into the season and this team remains relevant. How much longer can it last?

They are a fun bunch to watch regardless. Frustrating at times...but still fun.

David Wright is just absolutely raking this year.

Today on Facebook, there's an amusing gallery of the Mets kitted out for their upcoming road trip to Toronto in their favorite hockey jerseys. Jason Bay shows his hockey savvy with a Whalers throwback. Murphy (Lightning), Gee (Stars) and Dickey (Predators) rep their hometowns. Santana pays tribute to his time in Minnesota with a Wild jersey. Jordany Valdespin goes with UConn, for no reason that I can discern. Robert Carson goes Original Six with the Red Wings. Jonathan Niese and Justin Turner support their local sports team with Rangers jerseys, Niese's a Lundqvist Winter Classic jersey. David Wright probably takes the prize, though, with a Mighty Ducks jersey - not the NHL team, but this style from the movie, complete with "Goldberg 33" on the back.

He was 2x2 with 2 doubles and 3 walks, and he ripped two line drives right down the left field line that were barely foul. He is as much a pleasure to watch as Reyes was he first half of last year.

It would be funny if the Mets waited 50 years to have a hitter lead the league in BA, and then have them back-to-back.
