This is dumb. What was wrong with the "move Winnipeg and Columbus and leave the rest be" plan?

As it turns out, this alignment means that nobody is isolated from the team which is geographically closest to them, with one exception, and that's the Bruins.*

*Well, technically the Blue Jackets are marginally closer to the Penguins than the Wings, but it's a matter of a few miles.
