Other than the social aspect (and I think even that’s questionable), she’s better off as a home schooler. She can learn at her own pace, which is apparently far faster than her former school.

I also think that her parents are misinformed about the actual cost of attendance at private schools. I’d bet if they did just a bit of looking, they’d find a private school that would (a) accommodate her travel schedule; (b) challenge her academically and possibly even musically; and (c) give her substantial financial aid.
Really? My 2nd semester senior year, I missed 33 days of excused absences out of 90 in the semester for orchestra, debate, an engineering "internship" and other school-sanctioned activities. Not only did I get a perfect attendance award, I had straight As including in my 4 AP classes.

I do agree with your point that there must be a private school that would love to sponsor her, though.
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

Agree, which is what I meant when I said that apparently her learning pace was far faster than her former school, or more accurately stated, that her learning pace was far faster than her former school could accommodate.

      ...
I'm guessing your parents didn't get a visit from the truant officer. Fortunately for you, it appears that you didn't go to the high school that Avery Gagliano did (note they had the opportunity to excuse the absences, as your school did).

Not a lot of megachurchs in Landover, but Baltimore is riddled with them.

More like, "Guidelines state that if X occurs, you have the option to invoke rule Y, depending on circumstances (read: common sense is allowed to guide the decision). X condition was met. Rule Y was invoked without any common sense or circumstances considered."

But it's easier to oversimplify and misconstrue something when you can't grasp the concept of common sense, right?

Only at Wal-Mart: woman steals $1,200 of items from store, but can't find a ride. So she loads a motorized wheelchair with the stolen goods, and makes it 2 miles before cops catch her with the stolen goods and chair.

Tin foil hats are for keeping the Fed dark signal out.

The strainers are for letting the pasta good news in.
