I'm not disagreeing with him. Personally, I'd love for her to wear her uniform and I think it's sad that she isn't being allowed to do so. I'm just saying that I can see why the school is doing what they're doing, that's all.

Then she gets the recognition that she deserves, and she gets to have the honor of wearing her uniform at the ceremony. Then ask her to wear the gown when she goes up to get her diploma. This should be a solution that everyone can live with.
I like this solution. I think this would be a terrific compromise.

Should they allow a young lady to wear a bikini because she has just been named Miss (Insert State-name here) and they are proud of her? There are plenty of kids who will be walking across that stage who we should all be very proud of, but, frankly, don't deserve special recognition in this venue. I'm enormously proud of this young woman and what she is doing, but it has nothing to do with her high school career or the graduation ceremony.
Someone has already beaten you to this miazma of non sequitors. Besides, in the case of a kid going to play football at OSU, he'd be peddling that uniform after the ceremony then driving away in his brand new car.

If you can't connect those dots, there's not much hope for you.

And I love how, after you berate people for jumping to conclusion, you jump to conclusions about OSU football players.

Yeah. Throw in the mandatory defense of that cesspool of NCAA violations. I don't think there's much "jumping to conclusions" when it comes to the toilet that is OSU football. Puts your other arguments in persective. All you did with your post was rewrite the "slipery slope" argument. Others have beaten you to it.

Besides all you "rules are rules" drones, why not have have a limited list of possible exceptions? OSU football uniform? Only if accomanied by his parole officer. Eagle Scouit? Okay. Beauty contest winner. No. What would be wrong about that? 'Course it would involve breaking or at least bending one of your precious "rules." But who would be hurt, and how?

Like I said before, then one of the non-exempted would complain, and possibly sue for "discrimination against (insert demographic) here," and we have the same discussion all over again.

None of that has anything to do with my question.

                  Also irrelevant.

                  I said no such thing.

Agrees with me? How so? I don't believe I stated an opinion.

So the merit of the school's right to establish policies is strictly a matter of your own subjective assignment of value. Got it.
I'm proud to have served my country. And if you're not proud of passing the hat for the Abraham Lincoln Brigades or whatever, that's your business. And if I'm not "careful" about my assumptions, what're you gonna do about it? But I do compliment you or your Clintonesque phrase "certain sacrifices on behalf of certain things." It's a beauty and completely without substance. But your ignorance of the military shines through your posts. And if you did serve (which I doubt) I'm guessing you've got the same respect for people in uniform as John Kerry.

As to your "bonafide entities," would that extend to HoJo's? They're a "bonafide entity"

I doubt it. And haven't we had this particular permutation of this argument before? Besides, a list of exceptions worked out by a committee of teachers, students, administratrors, graduates, parents and yak herders would probably be able to withstand scrutiny.

Hmm. I thought these were good points. I must have a logic problem. Any time anyone makes a salient point you revert to personally belittling and insulting them and pull out service to your country as some sort of tallisman. I know, I know....I will save you the trouble. I hate America. I must hate my Dad and all my friends in the military too because obviously if I didn't I would fully agree with you.

Yes. But either you have chosen to ignore it, or don't realize that one exception opens the door for other exceptions, leading to a mess, which is why the school has the "no exceptions" rule in the first place.

By George, he's got it. "Anytime?" Really? And I "belittle and insult," but you and the rest of the draft dodgers don't? C'mon, man up, why don't you? It all depends on how you look at it, of course, but I don't think I "pull out my service" nearly as often as you suggest. And I certainly don't "wave it as a talisman," whatever that means. From my perspective, it seems like you high minded libs resort to"belittling and insulting" about as much as I do. You've just convinced yourselves when you do it, it isn't "belittling and insulting," it's fair comment. You guys can dish it out but you can't take it. So is it my "style" or my "content" which offends you the most? I'm guessing if we agreed more often, you'd be able to live with my "style." And if you've got "friends in the millitary" it just shows how open minded they are. All of you anti-military types have been lining up, foursquare behind the little rules at some stupid high school. Why man we can't have any deviations from the rules. Why, that's inconcievable. What hypocritical twaddle.
