  • 100 Years Ago Today...

    146 garment workers, most of them young immigrant women, died in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire here in New York City. Makes you think about how far things have come, when unions around the country are fighting over things like pensions rather than basic safety, but also how little they've changed, when you read about conditions at factories elsewhere in the world.
