            • Re: Women's DIII 2010-2011 Fan Opinion Poll

There's no question Amherst has struggled a bit in the early goings. But out of the top 10, or even top 5? I'm definitely not convinced (however biased...)

I think how well Amherst does this year will depend on how well their freshman are performing down the stretch. From Obserbear's and others' write-ups on the Amherst/Middlebury games this weekend, it seems like 1. Amherst dominated the play of both games this weekend (over another top 10 team, despite Friday's result) 2. they are having trouble scoring and 3. they need to find a way to pull a full 60 minutes together. To me, based on the results of their tough schedule this season, that all points to a lot of talent playing without a lot of composure. This [part is purely speculative] is likely a result of a huge freshman class that needs to come into its own.

As someone else already pointed out, 2 of their losses are to #1 RIT. Not sure if many recall, but in 2009 when Amherst went on to win their first title, they badly lost two games to RIT in the Rochester barn. I believe in the two teams' history they've only won a single game at RIT, and that was in the first round of NCAAs the year that Amherst emerged as a contender. Outside of that game, it seems that whenever they head over to Ritter they get knocked around and dont adjust well to the physical play. Their (I believe only?) other wins over this year's #1 team came in a double header at home last year, in a season in which Amherst went on to dominate in the NCAAs.

Amherst has a lot of players back with playoff experience, experience that goes deep into the NCAA tournament. If they can pull it together down the stretch (and that includes getting the best out of their freshmen) I predict you will see them back in the title game.

              But thats just me...

Amherst is 3-3-2 against teams at .500 or better and UWSP is 2-4 against .500 or better teams Between them that's only 5 wins against the better teams

                    No it's right on.

It doesn't count games against out of region teams and it doesn't count games against D-II or D-I schools. Those records are accurate as the NCAA will look at them that way.

It doesn't count games against out of region teams and it doesn't count games against D-II or D-I schools. Those records are accurate as the NCAA will look at them that way.
Thanks, I did not know that, I just thought they were a little behind for some reason

The pairwise are just ordered by win percent right now. I don't think they will really tell us much until the NCAA rankings come out and they can start to be analyzed.
