    • Mandi's Final skate

Yesterday Mandi took her final skate:

There was well over 1000 people who filled the stands at the Notre Dame Arena who witnessed Mandi's final skate. After the celebration of Mandi's life the Yale Women's hockey team lined up across the ice at one end of the Arena while the Notre Dame Midget AAA team did the same.

The Yale team lined up as they have all year keeping a spot open for #17. Well they lined up again and this time Mandi's Urn was placed in Mandi spot by the Yale Captain. Her Youngest brother Jaden skated over and took Mandi for a skate and returned her to her place. Then Rylan her other brother came over and did the same. Then a former President and team Canada player Terry O'Malley took her for a skate. Next was her Fiance Kaylem Prefontaine who took her for a few laps around the arena, not many dry eyes!

Then the 4 all joined together and skater her around the arena and the Yale team followed behind and Met Rick and Carol Schwartz at center ice for a final thought.

Mandi rest in peace, you will not be forgotten!

My condolences to the Schwartz family. I did not know Mandi or her family, but reading her story on this forum touched my heart. So much so that I signed up online for Be the Match. It was easy, and I hope some day it can make a difference. My thoughts are with the Schwartz family in this difficult time. Mandi sounded like a remarkable young woman.

Yesterday was Mandi's birthday. A nice birthday gift for her from brother Jaden, gift-wrapped by brother Rylan.

                                Thank you for posting that.

On the telecast last night they also mentioned that the ECAC renamed its Women's Student Athlete Award to honor her.
On the last home weekend of women’s play at each ECAC school, the Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year finalists will be recognized pre-game on the ice as part of each program’s senior weekend. This will begin this weekend as Clarkson and St. Lawrence cap off their regular-season home schedules.
