  • ECAC '24-25: Who rebuilds? Who reloads?

    There's been useful discussion of how teams might look for '24-25! It occurred to me to start this thread early so everyone can continue that here. This weekend I made lists, from what's available on the web, of which players are arriving as first-years/freshmen in the fall.

    For each school, below, you can click on its name to see recruits. Also listed in the first three columns in the chart below are how many women approximately are expected to be leaving currently, for the portal or using up eligibility (-F, -D, -G); next are the potential incoming first-years (+F, +D, +G); and finally the total players so far for '24-25 (F, D, G). On the 2023-24 thread, from Friday, you can also see points totals for these players expected to leave, along with the % of the team's points.
    Recruits -F -D -G +F +D +G F D G
    Brown 5 2 1 3 2 1 13 7 3
    Clarkson 6 3 1 6 1 1 17 5 4
    Colgate 5 2 1 2 1 - 10 7 2
    Cornell 2 - 1 1 1 1 13 9 4
    Dartmouth 2 2 1 2 2 1 13 8 3
    Harvard 1 1 - 4 1 1 15 8 4
    Princeton 5 2 - 4 1 1 15 6 4
    Quinnipiac 10 1 2 3 4 2 7 10 3
    RPI 3 1 1 3 - 1 18 6 4
    SLU 4 2 1 2 1 - 10 8 2
    Union 2 1 - 3 2 1 16 9 5
    Yale 2 - - 3 3 2 18 11 5
    NZ = Neutral Zone
    EP = Elite Prospects
    CC = College Commitments

    The portal source is GopherPuckLive's Women's List. There are at least ~72 departing players, of whom ~20 have eligibility remaining because they are either trying to transfer (e.g., Clarkson's Swiderski) or graduating (e.g., Pasiechnyk). Then there are ~62 or more newly arriving first-years in the ECAC. The sources often omit names or put incorrect years for them; I tried to check them. Who rebuilds, and who reloads, this upcoming season? And I wonder whose new recruits and returners look exciting to you.

    Will Colgate repeat as champions for the regular season or the tournament? Looking even farther, prematurely, ahead, will one or more ECAC teams make it to Ridder for the Frozen Four '25 as they made it to Durham?

    Wow, this is Rockstar type of information. Well done. I'd love to do something like this for the WCHA but time will not allow.

      There was an omission from the Harvard recruits list. Need to add Morgan McGathey from the East Coast Wizards and the US 18 and under team.

        Thanks. It looks like she graduates from high school in 2025; is that correct? I've been skipping those recruits at the moment, although they are interesting to find out about too.

        Seems that East Coast Wizards are good!

          I was under the assumption that she was matriculating in September but I could be wrong about that. East Coast Wizards are run by former Harvard star Scott Fusco. They are building a great rep for being a solid developmental program for women's hockey.

              FWIW, I have 7 RPI women's recruits on the list which is posted weekly on the RPI men's recruit thread https://fanforum.uscho.com/forum/col...90#post3872890. Of these, all but one are listed as for the fall. This is probably inaccurate. There are 4 F, 1 D, and 1 G for 2024. Brunet, supposedly arriving in 2024, who I found no record of having signed a NLOI, probably isn't coming this year.

                Thanks for the helpful notes about both Harvard and RPI! I am sure that my previous searching has missed some recruits.

                Looking at the East Coast Wizards site on their Girls Commitments list for 2024, I also found Annie Dinges (Harvard) and Monique Lyons (Brown). Ivies are somewhat different too of course in having just a verbal commitment. I'll try to research this more.

                Teams in the national championship field with recruits for these ECAC colleges include BK Selects, Boston Jr Eagles, CT Polar Bears, East Coast Wizards, Mid-Fairfield CT Stars, Philadelphia Jr Flyers, and Shattuck St. Mary's.

                I'll revise the lists on this thread tomorrow and/or Sunday some more.

                  You're missing a goalie for Dartmouth, too. Grace Zhan (who just beat Japan for China's first ever world championship win at the top level), and Michaela Hesova from BK Selects (competing in U19 nationals right now) are both Dartmouth commits for next year.

                      Thanks for this! : ) I've updated the RPI list and included Brunet, since her page at Kingston Ice Wolves says she is committed to RPI for 2024.

                      How did you find info on the two RPI recruits from Alberta? I haven't been able to see much searching for them - so didn't include them yet.

                      With Morgan McGathey (Harvard) being listed as Thayer Academy class of '25, I'm still not including her, but maybe she is matriculating in the fall as per Skate79.

                        The reason I am listing her as a Harvard recruit for next year is a story that mentioned her in The Boston Globe heading to Harvard. I took that to mean in September 2024.

                          I found it on an RPI women's hockey Instagram Story which means it isn't online anymore. See this post https://fanforum.uscho.com/forum/col...95#post3840695. Here is a post about Mackay http://twitter.com/HuxHkyCondition/s...57470967623980 . I can't find anything online currently about Hamilton.

                              Some of the game times are incorrect. For instance, they have the Harvard women playing at home the same night that the men are hosting Dartmouth. Assuming that the start times will be adjusted to reflect the women playing in the afternoon if there are two games scheduled.
