Playing Lindenwood makes perfect sense in terms of geography for both teams. It's just unfortunate that with only 6 NC games available for UW, two of them are expended on the Lions each year. I know that Timothy enjoys them, but when the only intrigue is goals vs shots, a lot of better entertainment opportunities are wasted. And then when teams like UW or UM play an interesting NC opponent, they tend to go to some atypical city (Nashville, Las Vegas) to do so. Not a good deal for season ticket holders.

It also gives them a glimpse where they'd like to be at someday. Some of their players played well and they had some moral victories. It gives UW a chance to look at new players in low leverage games. If UW played UMD the first series, does the 4th line even see the ice? MJ runs a short bench against top end opponents.

People are really overthinking the reason we play Lindenwood every year.
Driving time from Lindenwood University to:
Madison, WI: 5:33
Columbus, OH: 6:30
Mankato, MN: 7:49
St. Paul, MN: 8:13
Minneapolis, MN: 8:19
St. Cloud, MN: 9:23
That's the complete list of nonconference games less than a 10 hour drive for them. I think Lindenwood will take the biannual whipping for a nice and cost friendly 5 1//2 hour bus ride.

Heading out to Bauwstin Cawledge this weekend. Last year UW has 50+ sog both games and gave up 18 and 26 sog. They will get more pressure in the D zone this weekend. It'd be great to see similar results but the sog under 20 for both games. It will be fascinating to see the line-up.
So from a stats standpoint, how did this weekend stack up for McN? She get's credit for the 2 wins but no shutout Friday, correct?Wisconsin Hockey: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 WE WANT MORE!

Overall, I think the team had a good weekend against Lindenwood. The rookies were active, and everyone contributed to the scoring. O’B, Simms, Laila, Eden, KK were in form, and the rest of the returning players performed well also. Enright looked like she has recovered from her injury, and I expect she soon will return to the form she had in the second half of her first year. She is a solid player. But for her absence last year, the Badgers very well might have won their 8th title.
I was hoping to see Vasseur. Playing her first game at home would have been a nice welcoming for her. Based on MJ’s comments about her in his media conference, it sounds like she has made substantial progress recovering from her shoulder injury, but still has a way to go. It often takes considerable time to recover fully from shoulder injuries - as the Brewers have experienced recently with multiple players. Hopefully her ordeal ends fairly soon, and she finally gets to start her career and to enjoy her first welcoming on home ice.
BTW, after BC Bucky gets UMD and MN back-to-back. Those two weekends will be a mini gauntlet that should yield a solid assessment of where the Badgers stand with molding this group of players into a force for other teams to contend with. I look forward to the answer.Last edited by Patricio; 10-02-2024, 11:39 PM.

They can waive the five-year rule if "the student-athlete is deprived of the opportunity to participate for more than one season in his or her sport within the five-year period of eligibility for reasons that are beyond the control of the student-athlete or the institution".
Number one of circumstances beyond their control is "situations clearly supported by contemporaneous medical documentation, which states that a student-athlete is unable to participate in intercollegiate competition as a result of incapacitating physical or mental circumstances", incapacitating in this instance meaning "preventing from functioning in a normal manner".
Were she to be unable to play this season, it is highly likely she could get a waiver of the five year rule.

Some really leaky d zone play there in period 1, Ava really cool under fire. UW could easily be losing.Wisconsin Hockey: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 WE WANT MORE!
