Gonna stick with the top seeds. Who could spring the upsets, any or all of these three: Princeton, Yale or Quinnipiac.

In their regular-season games, the current 1-to-4 seeds had a perfect record against their respective 5-to-8-seed opponents except for a 1-3 Cornell loss to Quinnipiac - and Princeton taking a point in a 1-0 Clarkson overtime win!

Cornell beats Quinnipiac by 3-2 in OT on just an awful miscue by the Quinny goalie Anders. Cornell clears the puck out of their d zone by firing the puck all the way down ice to the right of the Quinny goal (halfway between the goal and corner of the rink). Anders comes out of the net to play the puck and misjudges the puck rebound off the backwall and gets caught way out of the net. A Cornell forward beats the Quinny players down the ice, gets to the puck and fires it past Anders into the wide open net. Awful way to lose the game.

Colgate easily beat Brown in game 5-1. SOG 40-17.

A fan on the Cornell forum said that it was a quirk of Lynah Rink that made for an odd deflection in overtime!

I was checking some more national tournament implications of the ECAC series via TonyTheTiger's predictor:
                - Colgate, 2-5 PWR - Colgate could get as high as the 2nd overall seed, if Wisconsin does badly. The worst-case scenarios require Minnesota making the WCHA final.
                - Clarkson, 2-5 - Worst case for Clarkson, they could get the 5 seed and travel to Minnesota for the tournament, if Minnesota makes the WCHA final.
                - SLU, 6-8 - SLU could get 6th seed nationally with a lot of wins. Their worst case is maybe Quinnipiac winning a lot here on out.
                - Cornell, 5-7 - If Cornell wins in 2 games, this keeps them 6th or higher Pairwise. They could also be passed by SLU.
                - Quinnipiac, 6-9 - Quinnipiac is currently 9 in PWR and would stay there with a loss against Cornell.
I wonder what others have been noticing in the playoffs or with the predictor?

That's not happening. I'd say it's close to 50/50 that they make it out of the quarters. If they do and see Wisconsin, UM yielded at least 3 regulation goals in all meetings, and only scored that many against the goalie they likely won't face.

No overtime games today, unlike yesterday with two. The top four sweep the quarterfinals and will play next weekend at Colgate, with traveling partners playing each other: St. Lawrence-Clarkson, and Cornell-Colgate.

Looks like all four teams should make the NCAA tournament, too.

Interesting about Minnesota. Yes, it looks like the top 4 ECAC teams will make the NCAA tournament and there isn't a path in for the others. Semifinals coming up Friday!
