  • In terms of Laura Hurd finalists (McCollins will win in a landslide), we'll see who gets the decorated honor of being nominated.

If it's usually conference POY, we'll see how they treat the offensive/defensive/goaltending split we're now seeing. They also tend to add a couple extra.

It will most likely consist of some list including:

    So. F Teaghan Hall, Endicott
    Sr. F Alyssa Murphy, WNEU
    5th G Soleil Archambeault, Curry
    5th F Hailey Holland, Gustavus
    Jr. G Anna Hanson, Bethel
    5th D Elizabeth Valley, Hamline
    5th F Une Bjelland, Adrian
    Fr. F Livia Brooks, Norwich
Sr. G Haley McKim, Southern Maine
    Sr. F Meg Rittenhouse, Colby
    Sr. D Jenna Stevens, Wesleyan
    5th F Julia Masotta, Plattsburgh
    So. D Kayla Persinger, Cortland
    Jr. G Molly Goergen, Cortland
    5th F Gabrielle Cox, Manhattanville
    Sr. G McKinley Hoff, Nazareth
    5th F Maddie McCollins, UW-River Falls

If this the list is this long, I'm not sure, but they'll probably throw in a couple snubs because yay for everyone.

    I think they'll throw in
MaKenna Aure from River Falls and Katie McCoy from Gustavus as well.

    • AHCA Coach of the Year is always conference coaches of the year, as well as the semifinalists, so we won't know the full list until after this weekend. Here's who will be there for sure.

      Katie Zimmerman, WNEU*
      Mike Carroll, Gustavus*
      Shawn Skelly, Adrian*
      A.J. Aitken, St. Norbert
      Moe Bradley, UMass Boston
      Jeff Matthews, Amherst*
      Kevin Houle, Plattsburgh*
      Chris Baudo, Nazareth*
      Joe Cranston, UW-River Falls*

If these coaches reach the Frozen Four, they'll add their names to the list.
      Kayte Holtz, Hamilton
      Bill Mandigo, Middlebury
      Rick Filighera, Cortland
      Greg Haney, Elmira

I wouldn't be super shocked if they released a statement. 0% chance anything changes, but I could see something being released. This is really bad guys.

I hope I got these links correct. Does the NCAA not care about DIII or is it just the DIII Women's sports? If you think women's hockey is a mess check out what they did to the DIII defending champion number 2 ranked women's basketball team.

Please, it's not a gender thing. So stop going there.

It's a D3 thing. I've been following D3 sports for 40 years now. It actually was worse in the past ... if that's any consolation.

For instance, the D3 football bracket can be really insane sometimes, making this year's D3 women's hockey bracket look like child's play.

D3 men's basketball as also authored some really unique brackets. With travel restrictions and a 64 team tourney, some highly ranked teams end up meeting much earlier than they are supposed to. Even the pod hosts have been a real eye opener at times.

I heard some of the Sweet 16 host sites for the men created quite a stir.

                  • Dan Laughlin steps down after a decorated career at UW-Superior.

Rivier's coach, Chris Czarnota, also stepped down last month. So we are at 2 openings, which I know of.

                      Midd up 2-0

                      Elmira up 1-0.

Naz and Hamilton tied at 1 late in the first period

                      • I just need 2 more goals from Hamilton and none from anyone else and my first round predictions hit

                        After 2:

                        2-1 ElmIra
                        6-0 Midd

1-1 Naz and Hamilton under a minute in the 2nd left.

                        • Elmira with an ENG makes it a 3-1 final. The Soaring Eagles head to Amherst for a quarterfinal matchup.

It seems I overestimated the Golden Bears despite the 6-0 Midd prediction as the Panthers advance to Plattsburgh with an 8-0 victory.

Hamilton at Nazareth is headed to OT tied at 1. The winner takes the trip to Adrian.

                            QFs:

                            Gustavus at UW-River Falls
                            Hamilton on Adrian

                            Middlebury at Plattsburgh

                              • Watching the D1 Hockey East semi-final. The Media timeouts have to help both teams. Better than 1 timeout for the whole game. Northeastern/UConn tied 0-0 after 1 period.
