  • Waiting for the PW to update, but Colby should be just about toast. The 4-bid NESCAC will be put on pause for a year. Whether they still should be getting 3 remains to be seen. But as Scott said, it's looking like the final spot is Cortland's to lose. If they can't pull the upset against Plattsburgh, all they should need is an Eau Claire loss, and wins from GAC and Adrian. Eau Claire needs a win, GAC, Plattsburgh, and Adrian wins. Cortland's lead in the RPI seems large enough that even with a loss, considering it's on the road against Plattsburgh, means I don't think Colby will catch them.

    • Selection guide for tomorrow:

For Adrian to make it as an at-large, they just need ONE of GAC/Plattsburgh to win.
For Middlebury/Hamilton to make it as an at-large, they need ONE of Adrian/GAC/Plattsburgh to win.
For Cortland to make it as an at-large, they need ALL 4 of Adrian/GAC/Plattsburgh/River Falls to win.
For UWEC to make it as an at-large, they need to win, with wins form ALL 3 of Adrian/GAC/Plattsburgh.

      • In terms of bracketology...

if you’re a River Falls fan, you are wanting wins from SNC/SMU. Any other “west” team will help your case. A QF date with the 4-seed Gustavus is not how most 1-seeds are treated. Yes, they “should” be getting an 8 or a 9 in a perfect world. But even with budget restrictions, a 4-seed is an absolute joke for how the 1-seed is treated. Especially when it’s the school that’s eliminated you the past two seasons. Even more so when you consider how the NCAA has bent over backwards for the 1-seed in the past. Even if it is just UWRF and GAC from the west, I will say I’m not convinced they would do this to the Falcons. But if there are no other non-west Adrian teams, there is still somewhat of a chance.

Also, keep an eye out in the UCHC and NEHC. An Elmira and Nazareth loss along with an Adrian win means the Bulldogs have no one within driving distance, which is a key notion. We’ll see if USM can shock the world, and if Utica can finally get over the hump…

        • Did the SUNYAC forget about post season awards? Championship Sarurday and no release on either the team or individual awards.

          • Assuming the favorites win today, the last at-large bid would seem to be determined by the Eau-Claire result. If they manage to beat River Falls today, how far do they rise? They are currently tied for 9th in the Pairwise, the first team out. Hamilton (at #7) and Cortland (#8) is playing teams ranked ahead of them in the Pairwise and likely not to be hurt too bad by a loss. It would seem if Eau Claire wins, they would likely jump at least Cortland and get the last at-large bid? They might jump Hamilton as well, but that would still just bump Cortland out of the tourney. All bets are off if Plattsburgh, Adrian, or Gustavus lose today... Of course, the USCHO site won't get an update from Amherst until very late tonight....

            • Question on Pairwise, and I don't know how up to date it is. Number 6 Middlebury is 19th in W% RNK and 7th in RPI. Why are they ahead of Number 7 Hamilton which is 17th W% RNK and 6th in the RPI? Seems that if you are 2 places ahead in W% and 1 place ahead in RPI shouldn't you be rank higher than someone with worse W% and RPI combined rankings?

              • Cortland wins it in OT.

Plattsburgh is going to get a Pool C, but they really need to figure out who is going to score the puck next season. There's been no Annie Katonka, Kayla Meneghin, or Melissa Sheeran these past couple of years....

                So far we have:

                Pool A:

                Cortland
                Elmira
                Gustavus
                Nazareth

                Pool B:
                UW-River Falls

                Pool C:
                Amherst
                Plattsburgh
                Loser of Middlebury/Hamilton

Agreed, 100% they need scoring help. Congrats to Cortland, they earned it!

They earned it for sure. That program has come a long way. I remember the Filighera hire being met with skepticism at best and mockery at worst but its worked out and turned this program around big time.

Hamilton will still need Adrian to defeat SNC.

                        • I’ll release a bracket projection tonight once all the scores are updated tonight. This bracket could go 1 of 2 very interesting ways.

May be irrelevant now, but with PW, it’s a best-of-three comparison between RPI, Head to Head, and Record vs Common Opponents. Even though Hamilton’s RPI was higher, Midd had a 1-0-1 record vs Hamilton and a better record against common opponents, so they ranked ahead of them, given they had 2/3.
