So this is a measuring stick game for sure then. How far has St. Cloud come up and is the demise of UM really true?
Tonight's game is televised on regular BTN, by the way.

Are you going to try and watch tonight? You could watch the tunnelers try to grip their sticks with two hands around their necks...

At the outset, we could hang with the dude...

I think I bought the B16+ as just the UW package.

Tonight is on regular BTN, the cable TV channel; it won't show up on BTN-Plus streaming until tomorrow. But tonight is on "regular TV".

I've only got the OSU package on BTN+ too but good to know we have women's hockey on regular BTN tonight. I guess I'll have to satisfy morbid curiosity and watch what will probably be a bloodbath.

I don't recall a female referee in the WCHA before, do I?

And there is a glimpse of the issues that the tunnelers have. Not much offensive firepower. Not much cohesiveness and defensemen (#5 and #7) with big turnovers to try in give SCSU the lead. Neither team all that impressive, to be honest, in the first period.

More of the same from the tunnelers. A lot of running around and individual efforts with little to show for all that other than a greasy, grimy goal. 1-0 tunnelers after 2 periods.

Some of that is Chobak. She's been really good tonight.

That is true...As much as the tunnelers tried to get SCSU back in the game, they were unable to do so. Tunnelers squeak by 2-1.

Well my prediction was off, Minnesota didn't run away with it though they were the better team but what a finish! St.Cloud almost got the equalizer as time expired.
I felt St.Cloud had trouble keeping up with the Gophers speed especially in the neutral zone. St.Cloud also didn't cycle the puck quick enough on the PP.
Chobak was clearly their best player but I thought the hip check put on Murphy was absolutely awesome. I'm sure the Muzzinator was making keep observations for when Minnesota come to town the week after next!

Yes, there has been one for a number of years. I think she may have changed her last name after marriage? I seem to recall our section's resident heckler yelling "Radislaw, you're the worst". Our resident stat master can correct me on the name.

You sir, have a very short and/or defective memory. Hanrahan, Wrazidlo, and many others. For real old timers I suggest the almost immortal Fixx (also known later as Fixx-Young). Those were the days.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

This worries me, because robertearle is one of the few trustworthy sources of WCHA history. I think I'd trust him with complete amnesia over Timothy's recollections. Ten plus years ago, when UND and UM met in the WCHA Final and then played 3 OTs on the same ice a week later in an NCAA quarter, Langley and Wrazidlo did both games. Officiating the final would tend to indicate that the league viewed them as their top pair. I know, it was a low bar. For the very first WCHA Championship, the game was called by Vickie Kale, with Young and Mary Owen (who also went on to referee in the league) calling the lines. Former Gophers Jerilyn Glenn and Sarma Pone both were referees. Brenda Reinen has worked the lines for many years, but I don't remember her ever being a referee.

From a home ice perspective, I don't know if I've seen one at Labahn (or the Kohl Center, Eagle's Nest, etc before) but Brenda Reinen has been on the lines many many many times. It may be a regional element that there isn't a specifically local one compared to the likely wealth of available refs in the Twin Cities.
