Anything less than 3,000 and he is shortchanging this program. I've heard some say "we'll never fill that." Seems to me those same words were spoken in 1922 when our 70,000-seat (now 100,000+ after several expansions) football stadium was built. I just hope the powers that be in the present day have that same foresight regarding the new arena for Women's Hockey. If I walk into the new building in 2026 and it holds anything less than that, I am going to be thinking to myself, "Where the bleep is the rest of it?" When it comes to this new arena, I say go big or go home. Build it bigger so we can get the WCHA Final Faceoff, NCAA Frozen Four, or IIHF Women's World Championships.

Ohio State, Northeastern and Syracuse have mediocre hockey facilities for the women's hockey programs. Ohio State is the only one with the big time football to change that.

There is no way any young lady who wanted to go to OSU has been turned off by the current rink under Muzzy's tenure and gone elsewhere because of it. You pick a school based on relationships, culture and educational opportunities.

You're being generous in your description of ours but we do love the atmosphere generated in it.

I'll side with you on this one.

The Muzzinator has tremendous recruiting skills and a personality that goes perfectly with it. There are always those few who got away and didn't commit to Ohio State for their own reasons but for those who are turned off by our old barn once we have the new arena that will be one less reason to not consider being a Buckeye.

Mediocre facilities obviously have not hindered OSU and Northeastern recently. I can't argue with you on how effective Muzzerall has been because it is all true.

If you ask most women, you'll find that the rink we play in is not nearly as important to us as it is to men. Our top priorities are the academic opportunity, the playing opportunity, the campus environment, and the team environment. We get to figure out if all that feels good to us during our official visits. The locker-room we're going to be in for the next four years of our lives is also more important to us than the building the rink is in. We're on the ice anyway, not in the stands, so the playing surface from one rink to the next is pretty much the same for us.

I've interacted with many of the men's players over the years and mentored some of them and not one has complained about the Schott, it's been others complaining it's too big and cavernous. They actually have some pride that they have the largest on campus college arena in the country.
I hope a lot of thought and consideration goes into the women's new arena and don't make it too small and five years later say "oops, I guess we goofed"

You just completely contradicted your previous response to my post lol. Muzzy must have got to you. You have to tow the company line eh?

You are probably right about this.

Thank you for that perspective. I have heard others say that facilities seem to be more important to the men than they are to the women.

Awesome. She left WI to play field hockey, so I hope she keeps tearing it up for tosu.
