Any word on Simms? I looked back on the video from Friday and it doesn't look like she got hurt, skated off after the Curl major and I couldn't spot her on the ice again.

I checked the memberships of the lines posted on USCHO for Saturday and Simms is not listed for any of them. Ergo, i assume she did suffer an injury the extent of which MJ should announce at his next press conference. Hopefully, it was minor, and she will not miss much, if any, playing time. Losing her for any length of time certainly would pose serious difficulties for the Badger offense and I don't see any options for replacing her and compensating for her absence.

Gorbatenkos the Younger committed to the Badgers today. Rachel, Defense, will appear on the USA Under-18 Team at the upcoming championships. Nicole is a winger on Chicago Mission U19.

One of the qualifications for a medical hardship is the student-athlete cannot compete during the second half of the regular season. That is essentially the Christmas break. And that is to say, they qualify right now; They can only 'disqualify' themselves from here on.

I found some current season info about Rachel and Nicole. Both have played in 15 games thus far. Rachel has 19Gs and 6As for 25pts. Nicole has 13Gs and 17As for 30pts! If both continue at their current paces, might be nice if both joined Kelly in Madison. Hopefully they both have strong relationships with Kelly and are looking for an opportunity to play with her.

With lack of info, I'm personally going to go with: It's a minor thing, and with the break Simms'll be back for UMD at home, and while I'm being blindly optomistic, she'll be joined by Enright and Harvey!

UW can survive UMD w/o KK and get max points (won't be pretty), but against the rodents it would be tough get all the points without her.

She's 16 (her birthday is Jul 20, 2007) and she has to be in the 25-26 class or its against the rules for her to commit.

Here's Johnson's first official words on each recruit.

Hannah Halverson - "I think she's a really smart hockey player. She is a good playmaker and sees the ice really well. If you look at her numbers you can tell she obviously has the ability to score. She played high school hockey with Vivian Jungels and has a sense of what our program is all about."

Finley McCarthy - "Finley is the first ever player we've had from Montana, which is exciting and shows the growth of our game. She is a power forward with a heavy shot and has the ability to score as well."

Maggie Scannell - "Maggie has served as captain for the U.S. Under-18 team and is a great leader on and off the ice. She is a smart center and is not afraid to go to the dirty areas. She has the ability to put the puck in the net and is a creative playmaker."

Emma Venusio - "Emma is another player who wears the "C" for her national team and will bring in incredible leadership skills as a freshman. She is a strong offensive player that has a one-timer that might be the best in Canada. She's also a very strong player who is defensively sound."

I'm digging the one timer comment. I wish more of the ladies would shoot off the pass.

I wonder what percentage of the players on the team are former team captains. They are always wanting character type players who can score the puck.

So with those players they have 12F and 6. O'B, Eden, Curl Wheeler are Covid 5th yr eligible, as is Kotlowski (If I have come to grips with this concept yet), that would put them in great position to actually field a full team and lose players to the Olympics.
