  • Two out of the three last games in ot, Penn State has given up up a breakaway game winner. In the one game in Ot, they have won, the d was down by the net. PSU better take a look at this ice balance issue and correct it. Even in the game PSU won, all three players were face off dots and lower.

It's amazing that RMU is able to get a pep band at every game.

And yes, the PSU shot totals for the second RMU game were shocking.

PSU was up 2-0 and then it was 2-2, only for PSU to go up 4-2 and RMU tied it up with 90 seconds left. In the second game PSU was up 3-1. It certainly was a frustrating weekend.

It's hard to believe Lindenwood beat RMU and tied RMU, the weekend before.

The CHA is wide open now.

    • It's game day, and a chance for Penn State to win their second consecutive CHA regular season title, this time at home against RIT. All they need is a win today or a win tomorrow (or a loss by Mercyhurst in either of their games against Syracuse). RIT is still in the fight for the fourth and final spot in the CHA tournament, so they'll be coming with something to play for. If you plan on going to the games, be prepared for some parking adventures - it's THON weekend at Penn State.

Both games are early games. Today is at 2:00 and tomorrow is at 1:00, and the series is being streamed on BTN+.

I recommend parking at East Deck if you're attending in person and avoiding the chaos around Bryce Jordan Center. We'll be there on Saturday but have to miss this afternoon's game unfortunately.

You can't refer to Thon as "chaos"... it's an un-Penn State thing to do!!!! That said, almost certainly good advice!

That's a great idea - you'll be 1/2 a block away from a clean Park Avenue escape after the game, too, and no Bryce Jordan traffic.

On a game note, Julie Gough is back in the lineup today, so that means Penn State can finally play a game with three full lines of defenders again.

THON is an amazing student run philanthropy event that raises money for childhood cancer research and to support families affected by childhood cancer. You should all go donate: https://thon.org ! The event itself, however, causes traffic & parking chaos.

              • Julie Gough is back in the line-up today. Alva Johnsson is moved to defense and Stecker is staying on offense on the line with Brooks & Christian.

                • After one, Penn State and RIT are tied 2-2 on goals from Tessa Janecke and Mya Vaslet. Shots on goal are 13-7 for Penn State, and penalties are 1 for Penn State and 0 for RIT. Penn State is really missing Josie Bothun in net, but Katie DeSa didn't have much chance on RIT's first goal after Lyndie Lobdell passed it right to an RIT player in front.

                  • After two, Penn State is up 3-2 on a beauty of a goal from Katelyn Roberts on a beauty of a pass from Tessa Janecke. Shots on goal are 23-11 for Penn State, and there were no penalties. Janecke is now 2 points away from her 100th career point...not bad for a sophomore.

                    • Interesting line up choices for sure and great news on Gough. Vaslet is hard to handle with her fantastic skating and willingness to forecheck. Butze had a very nice up the ice pass on Roberts' goal.

I was eyeing up the Janecke point totals before the game and it's impressive.

                      • Penn State takes the CHA regular season title with a 5-3 win, on third period goals from Mya Vaslet and Katelyn Roberts. Shots on goal were 37-18 for Penn State, and penalties were 2 for RIT and 1 for Penn State.

                        • There's no pressure on Mercyhurst this weekend now, as they will finish second regardless of the weekend outcome against Syracuse, and they will have home ice for the CHA tournament semifinals, as will Penn State. So the top three seeds are set for the tournament, with Penn State #1, Mercyhurst #2, and Robert Morris #3. All that's left is to see who ends up at #4.

                          • Certainly it's a bit disconcerting that PSU has given up 4,4 and 3 goals in the last three games. The bright side is the plethora of goals that PSU is scoring. The regular season champ, 20 wins and the Tournament Champ have either been attained and or are in reach.

Has the RIT loss energized Lindenwood is the big question? RIT is definitely pesky for PSU.

I'm pulling for Lindenwood, so Penn State gets them in the tournament semifinal series rather than facing RIT again. On the season head-to-head, Penn State outscored Lindenwood 28-6.

                              • RIT had an adventure on the way to Pegula this afternoon -- their bus caught on fire: https://www.wtaj.com/news/local-news...-catches-fire/

                                I'm glad everyone is ok!
