So we have THREE games 3's in the ECAC Quarterfinals.

SLU vs Quinny: Quinny 2-1 and SLU 3-2.
First one to 3 once again wins this one. I will take the home team.

Prinny vs Colgate: Prinny 3-2 and Gate 4-3.
Colgate needs to do a better job in containing Fillier. And note to Princeton, NEVER skate the puck out from behind your defensive net thru the crease with 2 Colgate players swatting at the puck from behind you and in front of you. BAD THINGS HAPPEN!! The first to 4 wins and again I will take the home team.

Cornell vs Clarkson: Clarkson 5-1 and Cornell 2-1 (2OT).
Would not surprise me if this one goes to OT again. Clarkson's record and number of goals scored against the top 6 teams in the ECAC is 9-7-1 / 1.94 goals per game. If you remove the 5 games they played against SLU they are 5-7-0 / 1.58 goals per game. Without the SLU games, when they score 0 or 1 goal, the record is 1-7-0. When they score 2 or more the record is 4-0-0. The team defense and especially Pasiechnyk in the nets are not the issue. The issue is scoring. Clarkson has scored 1, 2, 5 and 1 goals in the 4 games against Cornell. Cornell in the 4 games they have played against Clarkson has scored 8, 1, 1 and 2 goals. Cornell's defense and goaltending have been suspect all year. However, Fraser in 3 games against Clarkson has given up 1 goal in each game. The first to 3 wins this one and being the homer I have to be I will take my Knights (Please Please) .

My predictions were not accurate. Don’t think many teams typically go to a game 3 scenario, men’s or women’s.
SLU’s goalie can give teams fits. That’s the recipe for success; a solid ‘tender between the pipes. Colgate consistently giving up 3gpg is alarming. I’ve noticed the aggressive play along the boards to keep the puck in or out if a zone, only to have Princeton or any opponent squeak by and walk in on net untouched. If it worked, ‘Gate could have a breakaway the other way, but it is always a risky play.
Not sure how we outscored Pton 11-3 during the regular season. They are a solid team with good defense. Glad the shots were in our favor for a change. We could have had a lot more had we taken them. We blocked shots more than usual, esp. during the desperate waning minutes.
Princeton started Taylor Hyland both games and held her own. Curious about today’s starter. Would be something if SLU could pull off the upset.

Some great playoff hockey already this weekend. Today's games should be hard fought. Colgate still has the best offense in the ECAC as far as name recognition, and I would expect that they will just keep coming. Clearly, you don't want to take a penalty against Colgate. The Cornell win was particularly notable because the win came while keeping the top line off of the scoresheet. That is unusual but promising for the Big Red. And I see Guilday back in the lineup which has to help. And as for the SLU/Qpac matchup, I think the focus for each team has to be how to beat an outstanding goalie on the other side. This one is going to be a grinder with some excellent goaltending. I still think the favorites will prevail, but I think all of the games will be close.

The Harvard/Yale series - Harvard put up some resistance. More than I think some of you on this board suspected. In the end, though, they only dressed 16 players in yesterday's game and seem in need of an entire rebuild. They are a pretty young team. Reading the Harvard thread is so disturbing and sad. I hope they move fast in making some changes. I felt so bad for those seniors crumbling to the ice after the game. But give Yale credit. They overcame some early adversity in game one and just stayed the course. Hartje set a program record for assists (beat her program record from last year; prior record had stood for 36 years) and she keeps distancing herself from the rest as far as points and plus/minus, blocked shots, etc. Don't see many forwards leading a team in blocked shots. Yale isn't flashy, but they just keep getting the job done. Bulldogs are going to be a tough out with their style of play.

Can't wait to see the pairings for next weekend. Should be exciting.

Time to cheer for all four of the ECAC Women's Hockey teams in the NCAA Tournament. No ECAC matchups in the first two rounds.
And thanks to all the ECAC teams for an enjoyable season with lots of fine memories.

Well said QC, at least for the first round ;-) There was a time this season when 6/10 in the PWR were ECAC teams. Glad we avoid first round conference matchups. Selection show commentary was all about OSU, MN & Yale. Colgate has more to prove!

I'm not sure if there any Quinnipiac fans on the Board today. But if yes, congratulations on last night's amazing win.

As I do for Ohio State Home Games, I created a 3 Stars List for the Penn State/Quinnipiac Game. Could be that you'd enjoy it. If you do have an interest, it's posted on the Ohio State Thread.
