  • 2023 Patty Kaz Prospects?

I thought since we're getting close to the home stretch of the season if anyone has any thoughts on who the front runners should be for this seasons Patty Kaz award?

Excellent start - I would also include:

      Olivia Mobley - QU
      Sarah Fillier - PU
      Abigail Levy - BC

All three have had very good seasons - I would put my money on Serdachny now though, she has been truly amazing to watch.

Academic and civic achievement are also factors in the selection but I don't know how much of a factor. Those achievements are harder to research for fans than pulling up a players stats.

As much as I don't want to give Muzzy any more bullets for the chamber, just give it to Jaques. She should have won it last year. A year late is better than not at all, just ask ARD.

Please...The right choice was made last year.

At the outset, we could hang with the dude...

              That's debatable!

Jaques would be my choice but I'm not unbiased but it's only because I'm not too familiar this seasons other potential candidates.

                  In the ECAC:

                  Mobley
                  Hartje
                  Serdachny
                  David
                  Dukaric

The best players on the best teams should certainly be considered, especially in the grind that is the ECAC. Some of these players don't necessarily have the supporting cast that some of the WCHA players and teams have. I know Fillier was amazing in international competition, but this award should be based on this year's college hockey season, and she has not outperformed these players. I don't watch the other leagues as closely so I stuck to the ECAC.

                    Reality...It actually isn't.

This year is a different story. We will see how it goes.

To me, it seems a little off when there are more players from Northeastern than there are from the entire ECAC. I doubt anyone other than HEA coaches would claim that it's a better league than the ECAC, but here we are.

Leaving Hartje off this is a crime.

The 2023 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award show will be broadcast live from the AMSOIL Arena ticket lobby on Saturday, March 18, in Duluth, Minn., as part of Saturday at the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four. Fans are encouraged to attend with doors opening at 11 a.m. CT and the live 30-minute television show beginning promptly at 11:30 a.m. CT. The three finalists will be on hand, in addition to Frozen Four team participants, as the 26th winner of the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award will be revealed. NHL Network’s Siera Santos will host the show and Serena Veazey, daughter of the late Patty Kazmaier, is expected to be in attendance as well. The event is free of charge and light refreshments will be available.
I guess I missed it; when did we go from having an awards banquet to having a "ticket lobby announcement?" Let me guess; the pandemic was involved.

I don't want to sell any girls short but it's been debated on forum before Northeastern's conference is weak so if you have one or two decent teams in it it will be inevitable that some will have outstanding stats.
