    Thanks for sharing that!
I haven't subscribed for several years, they've become overpriced and aren't even located in Columbus anymore.

The Buckeye Women completed the sweep of Minnesota State earlier today in dramatic fashion, coming back from a 2-goal deficit late in the game to earn a 5-4 win in Mankato. Ohio State struck first on a goal from Sofie Lundin, her first as a Buckeye. The Mavericks would answer with three goals from Anna Wilgren, Madison Mashuga, and Claire Butorac to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission. Ohio State's Kenzie Hauswirth scored the only goal of the second period and the teams went into the final intermission with the Mavericks holding a 3-2 lead. Minnesota State's Brooke Bryant scored the first goal of the third period to put her team ahead 4-2. The score remained that way until the Buckeyes erupted for three goals in a seven-minute span to turn the two-goal deficit into a 5-4 lead and eventually a win. The Buckeye goals were scored by Madison Bizal (someone should tell the MSU play-by-play guy to read our pronunciation guide as it is bi-ZAL, not BIZ-al), Jennifer Gardiner, and Gabby Rosenthal. Ohio State outshot the Mavericks in this one 46-21. Buckeye netminder Amanda Thiele stopped 17 of the 21 shots she faced to get the win. Minnesota State's Alexa Berg stopped 41 of the 46 shots she faced in the loss. Ohio State will return home to take on St. Cloud next weekend at the OSU Ice Rink. The Mavericks will travel to Duluth to take on the UMD Bulldogs.

As seen on the MSU Athletic website:

"OSU outshot the Mavericks 46-21 and stole a win against MSU to keep the Mavericks winless on the young season."

LOL, we outshot them 46-21, but we somehow "stole" a win.

And don't forget the Saturday game is when they will honor the National Championship!

Probably from a standpoint of you cut their lead to 1 with ~ 8:30 to go, tied it four minutes later, and won it with a minute and a half left. So not in terms of shot clock, but from the aspect that they were winning on the scoreboard for most of the game, right up until they weren't. More like you escaped with a win than you stole one.

I think I'd be more concerned about giving up four goals on 21 shots. What the heck?!?

MS certainly played harder the second game and dirtier too and they capitalized on Ohio State mistakes. No doubt there will be things pointed out in the film room.
But Ohio State turned up the heat and did what they needed to do in the third to secure the win. To say we stole the win would imply MS earned it and they didn't. Simply put the better team won.

Um, no. Amanda Thiele is one of the best tenders in the country and backstopped us to a National Title last season, so no, not the least bit concerned with this.

This. Bucks went on a roll in the third period and the Mavericks couldn't stop them, that's what happened. Nothing "stolen" in this one.

It was tied with four minutes and change to go, so at that point it was anyone's game to win. Having watched the game on BTN+ and seeing how it played out, just thought it was a stretch for anyone to say Ohio State "stole" it.

I understand the point both of you are making about the better team winning and all of that. You're the defending NCAA and WCHA champions; they aren't. Think of it more in the sense of someone hitting a baseball over the fence and the outfielder brings it back, or a goalie reaches up and snares a shot labeled for the top corner. It's common to say that the fielder/goaltender "stole" it from the perspective of the offensive team. As in that case, it doesn't mean the that the other team did anything wrong or wasn't deserving. But like the team that was "robbed" of the HR or goal and was already starting to mentally count its chickens, the Mavericks may have prematurely started to put that one in the "W" column after holding a lead for so long. It isn't a slight to your team, but it is how the hosts might feel to be on the losing side of that one. There are multiple perspectives on every play and game. You don't have to see the Mavericks' point of view on this one.

I can easily see the Mavericks point of view on to the loss. I was a tough one to swallow.
When my teams let what looked like a win slip away I tend not to blame the other team but rather on the officials for bad or non calls. (Wink)

The favored team can never steal a win. Why? Because you are expected to win.

And only gave up as many as four goals once during that season, in a loss, and to a better team than MSU.
