All teams have players that don't get the playing time they desire, it's called a depth chart. Since the Transfer Portal came into being player exodus has become commonplace in college sports and each players reason for moving on is unique to themselves. But I can confidentiality say no player at Ohio State is ever made to feel they can't stay.Last edited by Hockeybuckeye; 03-31-2023, 09:00 PM.

And without going into details, I can tell you for a fact Muzz has told players over the years they’ll be getting little to no ice time moving forward based on the projected roster. It’s also factual she wouldn’t be the first coach to do this. It’s still the player’s choice to transfer or not but, come on, stop acting like your coach doesn’t ever help along their choice.

Again, name me one program that doesn't have a depth chart? This isn't rec league where everyone gets a chance to play. It's the coaches JOB to put the best players in the lineup that in their professional opinion to give their team the best chance of success. There's no participation trophies at this level.
Lastly, some of us on the board think Muzz makes such liberal use of the portal that it shows a lack of commitment to the younger players she’s recruited. Players certainly know going in they have to earn ice time. But it’s one thing to battle for time against others in your class or younger players coming after you while there’s no battling with the likes of Barnes, Bilka, etc.

Muzzy is a rebuilder. She's achieved everything she set out for at tosu. Time for a new challenge. If not Hawvawd, then BC. They need a change too.

Not going to happen with B1G money and a new arena. For better or worse, there are three premier jobs on the women's side moving forward: Ohio State, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Everything else is a step below. Now, our hockeyphobic AD can still screw that up, but that's probably a few years away, and he's getting old...real old...retirement old.

EDIT: I guess I was looking at the wrong Gene Smith; I was wondering why you were claiming he was that close to retirement!Last edited by ARM; 04-03-2023, 11:48 AM."... And lose, and start again at your beginnings
