We break into your regular programing with a news bulletin............Timothy A had nothing to do with this comment and does not condone or approve of any reference to tOSU program, any support staff, or coaches comparing them to an insane, deranged, sick, twisted, vile, gross movie character. Now back to your regularly scheduled programing.

I thought he was still alive and I have enjoyed his work. Game on!
So far, the analogies are Apollo Creed and Michael Myers. Who's next, Nicholson from "The Shining"?

I told you not to blow Coach's cover on this forum! (LOL)

Now she will have to search harder to find material for us to continue to play the "disrespected underdog" role. (smile, wink)

Coach Muzerall, I tried to keep it a secret, but the word is now out that you read this forum!

Coach, go a few pages back where everyone except Hockeybuckeye, Pgb, and I (and some other OSU fans) said they would root against us (like the Penn State fans did last season) if we are in the Frozen Four or the Championship Game!

Then you can break out those OHIO AGAINST THE WORLD shirts! (big grin)

            • Now take it easy Hockeybuckeye. You have poor Timothy A scared to death! I met Timothy A in person. He is a good guy and I have been trying for years to get him to come to Columbus for games against his Badgers. Now you have scared him away and he will never come down. Timothy A, you ever make it down and I will introduce you to "the Muzzinator." I think you may have been the first to come up with that nickname for her, IIRC. All kidding aside, good luck this weekend vs the Mavericks! The way your team is playing, I don't think you will have much trouble with Mankato.

But didn't the Muzzinator wonder what happened to TimothyA's helmet hat so that he was wearing a regular cap last weekend or am I mistaken?

Lies, all lies! You, er, she can't prove a thing! Let's just say for argument's sake I was wearing a regular cap, which ones were they? And no going back into the B16 broadcasts and trying to catch a glimpse of them either.

Why did I come back in here!?!!? Muzzy is stalking me. I'm never going anywhere near Ohio ever again. It will be sad not going to that great museum at Wright Patterson again. I did buy my favorite T shirt of all time there, one with a P51D flying in the clouds on it. What a beauty. Adios muchachos!

From the spectator point of view, the end of the the regular season provides a chance to catch one's breath before the start of the conference playoffs. A bit of levity was in order.

But if you're suggesting the time has to come to get serious and focus on Bemidji, you're absolutely correct.

                        • Congrats to Sophie on the hat trick. Also, huge respect for the Bemidji goalie. That was one of the greatest college hockey performances that I've ever watched. Without her, that damn well could have been 10-1.

Totally agree, the Bemidji State tender kept her team in this game. This was one of those games that was probably closer than the final score indicated, but if it was not for the heroics of the Beavers' Hannah Hogenson in net, as you said, the score could have very well been lopsided. Ohio State opened the scoring in the first period less than two minutes into the game on a goal by Sophie Jaques to take a 1-0 lead. Neither team scored the rest of the period and the teams went into the first intermission with the Buckeyes holding onto that 1-0 lead. Bemidji State answered early in the second period on a goal from Makenna Deering to knot it at 1-1. The score stayed that way until Sophie Jaques lit the lamp with exactly .2 seconds left on the clock in the second period to regain the lead at 2-1. Ohio State added two more goals in the third period to make the final score 4-1. The Buckeye goals were scored by Sophie Jaques (hat trick) and Emma Maltais. Maltais' goal was an empty-netter as the Beavers had pulled Hogenson for an extra attacker. The Buckeyes outshot Bemidji State 45-13 with Buckeye netminder Amanda Thiele stopping 12 of the 13 shots she faced to get the win. Bemidji State's Hannah Hogenson was brilliant in net, stopping 41 of the 44 shots she faced. Game two will be tomorrow at 3:00 pm.

                            • Final Score From Friday, February 24th
                              Ohio State 4
                              Bemidji State 1
(Ohio State Leads Best of Three Playoff Series 1-0)
                              Trading Storms

The State of Minnesota experienced a major snow storm this week. Historic? No. But significant accumulations, particularly on Tuesday and Thursday. Travel was more than inconvenient. The Beavers swapped out of the blizzard by traveling on Wednesday. Presumably they enjoyed the sunny, 70 degree weather in Columbus on Thursday.

In trade, Bemidji received a major storm of shots from the Ohio State offense. Historic? No. But pretty intense pressure throughout the contest. Yet the game remained tied until 19:59 of the 2nd Period. The Beaver Defense put up an admirable resistance.

Three Stars Of The Game: Decidedly Unofficial & Just For Fun

2nd Honorable Mention: Ella Anick, Bemidji State
Ella had 5 blocked shots. Ouch! That total easily led all players.

1st Honorable Honorable Mention: Hannah Hogenson, Bemidji State
Hannah was magnificent in the Bemidji net, turning away shot after short. In the end, Hogenson couldn't stop the Buckeye onslaught. But she finished the game with 41 Saves, many of the excellent variety.

#3 Star: Makenna Deering, Bemidji State
The Beaver goal came on a perimeter play. Adriana Van De Leest, working from the right point, tossed the puck deep. Next, Paige Anderson won a puck battle behind the Buckeye net. Paige continued the wrap around, directing the puck to Reece Hunt in the left wing corner. Finally, Reece sent the puck went back to Deering on the left point. Makenna's fine blast got through everyone, and found the net just inside the right post.

#2 Star: Emma Maltais; Ohio State
Emma was a magnificent 17 of 22 in the face-off circle, for an impressive win rate of 77.3%. Perhaps the most important win came just a minute and a half into the game. Getting a shift against Bemidji's 3rd line, Maltais cleanly won the draw back to Sophie Jaques, whose top shelf drive opened the scoring. The early tally certainly got the Buckeyes off on the right foot. Without that goal? Based on how the 1st two periods ultimately played out, who knows?

But as it happened, Emma also had the primary assist on the GWG. In the end, Maltais bagged the empty-netter to close out the game. On that one Makenna Webster forced a turnover as the Buckeyes were defending against the extra attacker. From there, Webster accompanied Maltais down the ice for the coup-de-grace.

#1 Star: Sophie Jaques, Ohio State
A pure hat trick to win a playoff game? I could almost leave it at that; top honors were pretty much inevitable. But here's a little more detail for you.

Sophie posted a +3 for the game, which led all players. Granted, she shared that +3 with her 'D' partner Madison Bizal, and with the Maltais/Levis/Webster line.

Ultimately Jaques spread out her goals evenly, with one per period. Interestingly, the second & third goals were both generated by passes from below the end line. Maltais had the feed in the 2nd; Paetyn Levis did the honors in the 3rd.

                              • I generally don't trash people on forum but I've got to say I've never seen such horrific officiating this season than on this weekends series against the Beavers. We had a player injured in each game, and in today's game the concern was serious enough she was transported to the hospital in the ambulance on a backboard!
Did we get a PP with the injuries? 5 minutes would have been warranted in either instance but no, not even a 2 minute call!! We didn't even get a review today for an elbow to the head that caused Buglioni to go down hard on the ice. Her injury could have been serious. I've seen other forum members this season posting about their disgust with WCHA officiating and boy, am I disgusted!
Our ref's this weekend were Bradshaw and Binkley and I hope coach insists we do NOT have them doing our games next weekend.
