It's going to be too big for the women and too small for the men! It's been approved to go to the planning stage so we shall see what they come up with but I'm not optimistic it will be ideal for both teams as far as fan attendance.
Portzline was reporting 1500 seats the other day. Games for women, practices for men. Where are you hearing 5000?

Here's a link to one story quoting 5000 and there were others.

I also was under the impression also it would be for the women and practice for the men from what one of the coaches told me but perhaps I misunderstood. I'm disabled from long Covid and do get confused a lot of times.
I might be able to get more details down the road.

Buckeye , thanks for sharing! I had not seen the 5k number. I guess we’ll wait and see. Really glad to see movement regardless. That quote about the little girl crying because she couldn’t get in… OMG. Like I said, glad there is movement on this!!

Yet isn't it ironic OSU was intentionally doing the same thing at Thursdays men's game, turning people away by not opening the third level?

            • At this stage, I don't think anyone knows including Gene. I guess that's what the 2.7M design study will be for. I just don't see any number that would suit both the men and women. 5K is a Solomon like decision only in the manner that Harbaugh understands the meaning.

                • Are the Yuckeyes still in Ohio? Someone should check because whoever is on the ice at Labahn doesn't look like the supposed #1 team. Yikes...Gave up 4 goals in the first period to the Sinners.
At the outset, we could hang with the dude...

                  • It looked like the Yuckeyes finally did get in from Ohio and in the second period, played better. Outscored the Sinners 2-0. Still trail 4-2 going into the 3rd period.

                    • Really? A penalty shot? You've got to be sh*tying me! Typical WCHA officiating unpredictability!

That was a very obvious call. The Buckeye defender rolled over on to the puck in the crease. Ludwig was right on top of it.

I have at the moment respectively disagree but when I can see the games rerun and can freeze it I'll make my final judgement then. It didn't help that they didn't replay it.

They replayed it once. You can clearly see the Ohio State defender roll over. You don't actually see the puck, but Ludwig had a good view of it. The puck then squirts out, but that's not relevant. The rule in question is a part of Rule 67.1 - Delaying the Game:

A defending player, except the goalkeeper, shall not be permitted to fall on the puck, hold the puck or gather the puck into the body or hands when the puck is within the goal crease. PENALTY—Penalty shot/optional minor; an additional penalty shall not be assessed.

                            • The Buckeyes dug themselves a 4-0 hole in the first period of this one and made a great effort to come all the way back to tie it at 5-5, but fell to Wisconsin in overtime by a final score of 6-5. Wisconsin scored the only goals of the first period. The Badger goals were scored by Casey O'Brien, Britta Curl, and Jessie Compher (2). Ohio State came out firing in the second period and got goals from Jenn Gardiner and Emma Maltais to cut the Wisconsin lead in half at 4-2 heading into the second intermission. Ohio State's Brooke Bink scored early in the third period to cut the lead to 1 at 4-3. Wisconsin would answer on a goal from Sophie Shirley to restore a two-goal lead at 5-3. The Buckeyes would score the next two goals to tie it at 5-5. The Ohio State goals were scored by Jenn Gardiner and Emma Maltais. No one scored the rest of the way, so the game went into overtime where Wisconsin's Kirsten Simms scored on a penalty shot to win it for the Badgers. The Bucks and Badgers will wrap up the WCHA regular season tomorrow with game time at 3:00 pm EST. If the Buckeyes get a point tomorrow, they will earn a share of the WCHA Regular Season Title, although Minnesota will get the #1 seed in the WCHA Tournament next weekend due to their 2-1-1 record against Ohio State. Should the Buckeyes get two or three points, they will win the WCHA Regular Season Title outright and get the #1 seed in the WCHA Tournament.

                              • I don't see tOSU not winning today. In a one-game scenario, Muzzy will have them ready to go.
